The University of Alabama has been a interesting process from helping students to discover themselves, but also helping them to achieve, their overall goals in life. Within my short time here I have learned a lot about myself, and what I stand for in my fellow peers stand for. Even though Alabama has his good times it does fall short in some areas when it comes to student well-being, and how students need financial support if they’re not able to provide it. This doesn’t include just attending the university but also housing allow students are homeless and still going to school and living in their cars. This is something that needs to be changed at the University and make sure that not only are we succeeding in academics, but also in personal lives. I love UA for the opportunity has gone for me, but I do hope to school sees there’s a much bigger majority out there who are thriving for degree but not having financial in support and personal areas that they should be more aware of.
The food isn’t great, and since it’s such a big school you can feel a little bit lost and unseen, but it’s not too bad.
Growing up in Tuscaloosa, The Univeristy of alabama has always been where I wanted to call home. My favorite days are in the fall when the weather is nice out and you get to enjoy the beautiful walk on campus to your classes. Attending the university is going to make you feel at home.
Through my few years attending this university, I have formed friendships to last a lifetime while being able to immerse myself in the college experience. The University of Alabama provides a beautiful capmus that is enhanced by the diversity of students that attend. There are a multitude of opportunities for students to try just about anything and meet anyone. There are also numerous safe spaces and organizations for anyone to find their own people. The Greek life organizations also allow numerous people to join a group of students in academics, philanthropy events, and future networking. Overall, this campus is extremely diverse and engaging if you take advantage of the opportunities available.
Alabama is an amazing school. I loved meeting so many other out of state students and connecting with them while we were all away from our families. Roll tide!
Greek life and sports are a huge part of the culture. If you aren't part of either one, you will have a hard time meeting people. For example, the girls in sororities are required to pay for the meal plan with the sorority, so they do not go to the dining halls. It is very segregated in that respect and being such a big school and huge campus, makes it hard. Even if you get involved in clubs/activities, some of the people you meet are in Greek life and are at their houses a lot of meals, meetings, private events. I also found the "party scene" to be big, but actually very boring and the same thing over and over. It is a nice campus and Tuscaloosa has a lot going on, but just isn't the right fit for me.
I would definitely recommend this university to extroverted people. The on-campus party scene is pretty intense. Obviously, UA is known for football. You will definitely get the college football experience. If you’re not into the aforementioned activities (or greek life), it can be alienating. As an introvert, I did not have the best experience at UA.
Two excellent aspects of the University of Alabama are its College of Engineering and the Culverhouse College of Business. Some of my friends (who majored in business/finance/accounting or engineering) had great things to say about their classes and their experiences. Personally, I took some really amazing economic classes in Culverhouse at Alston Hall.

The University of Alabama is a great school with plenty of opportunities to get involve with campus life and the surrounding community. Tuscaloosa is a true college town, with many things geared entirely toward students. There are plenty of restaurants, tons of apartments, and plenty of activities that are either discounted or entirely free with a student ID. I changed my major twice while in school, but did eventually find a path that led me to a degree I loved (and still use in my career today). Most of the faculty and staff I encountered were nice, friendly, and helpful.
So far I like the professors and the advisors that have prepared me for the upcoming semester. The one thing I would really like to see if more diversity of people. I have nothing against the vast majority of one race just would like to see more diversity.
The thought of attending college felt intimidating at first, but as soon as I stepped foot on campus, any hesitations that I had were gone. Though I had visited the campus before, it felt different on the day that I moved into my dorm. I was living with a high school friend, which, in hindsight, probably made the transition easier, but that move-in, itself, still felt much heavier than I had expected. Once we finished unpacking, I said good-bye to my parents and took it all in. My roommate and I decided to walk around the campus, and within minutes, we started talking to others and our small circle started to grow. Many of those new faces have become great friends. I have found people with common interests and goals, and we have motivated each other both in and out of the classroom. The campus that I once thought was so big quickly become smaller and more comfortable. I have gotten to know my professors, whose guidance has become invaluable. I could not have ended up at a better place.
Academic advising is terrible. Ask around and you’ll soon realize no one graduates in time because their academic advisor was not competent. Also, if you’re a transfer student, Bama is a terrible option. They will treat you like a second class citizen.
I have made new friends easily and became comfortable very quickly. Everyone is nice and welcoming and it is overall a great place for everyone. There is something for everyone to be a part of.
I love the University of Alabama and coming here was truly the best decision of my life. Tuscaloosa is a great city and campus always feels safe. Roll Tide!
It was the best four years of my life. I met so many different people and left with the confidence to go out into the world and tackle any situation. Also, Nick Saban won his last national championship my senior year of college. That is something special I will always remeber.
The University of Alabama has a beautiful campus. There are always fun events and social activities to participate in. I am currently in my freshman year at the school, and so far it has been nothing but amazing. I live in the dorms and walk to all my classes. I am in Greek life and joined informally in the second semester. Not only have I made friends from just going to class but also going to lunch at the dining hall, and where I live. If you don't like parties and going out, there is plenty for you to still do. Many organizations and events have activities where you don't drink or party and you just meet new people and get connected socially. I love going out with my friends and also going to campus events. The campus is very walkable and safe during all parts of the day, but still walk with a friend or buddy to ease your parents' minds. Once you visit the campus there is no going back or going to another school!
The University of Alabama has always been my top choice for college. I have not regretted coming to this school to pursue my education in Marketing. I have three minors and advisors and professors have always been good to me. I will always recommend this school to upcoming college students.
It’s a nice school, the scenery is really nice around campus. They provide good professors for some classes, but if you’re in stem lookout for some of the professors because they are not good at teaching.
I loved my experience because I made sure to feel part of the Tuscaloosa community. if I did not, then I would have enjoyed my experience less. This University encourages you to become involved, but I found myself more focused on breadth than depth. I built great relationships with my classmates and professors and wish I had more time here to leave more of a legacy. I would like to see more of a feed into roles of depth and a greater encouragement from the greek community to work while being a student. I would like a better path on building relationships with professors - even if that means a professor focuses on one graduating class at a time. This university feels small, although it is big and everyone can find their place there, I just think that the univeristy can support that process more.
I loved my recent campus tour and I have friends that have recommended UA to me because of how amazing it is.
Best decision I've ever made. As a northerner on a Presidential Scholarship, I did not know how or if I would fit in well here at first. You will not meet a more welcoming, fun community to be apart of. So many amazing people from all over.
