About Universal Radio


Universal Service was established in 1942 by F.R. "Gibby" Gibb W8IJ, at its original location of 114 North Third Street in downtown Columbus, Ohio. After Gibby became a silent key his wife ran the business briefly and sold it to Tom Harrington W8OMV in 1977 who moved the business to Reynoldsburg.

Universal Amateur Radio store was located at 1280 Aida Drive, Reynoldsburg, Ohio (tomato capital of the world!) from 1977 to 1992.

Universal Radio was at Americana Drive from Feb. 1992 to early Oct. 2017. Click here for tour.

Universal Radio was at 651-B Lakeview Plaza Blvd., Worthington to November 2020.

Universal Radio no longer has a showroom. The address for orders, returns and correspondence is 752 N. State St. Unit 222, Westerville, OH 43082.
