India[edit]

Why isn't India listed as a unitary state? While it may be a Union of states , the "Central" gevernment has much authority over the states, it appoints the governors, can split, merge or eradicate the states and change their status at will. Note the automatic inclusion of the princely states into the Union at Independence. Was this a foregone conclusion or a fait accompli? --68.80.223.233 22:12, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Spain[edit]

Spain is just like the United Kingdom, a unitary state but with self-government areas (decentralised country with an asymmetric federalism). This article should not be centered on the English speaking countries only. Spain has 17 Autonomous areas plus 2 autonomous cities located in North Africa, it acts de facto as a Federal State, called in Spanish Estado de las Autonomías. Contrary to Spain and UK, there are other unitary states with more centralised powers, like France. 178.109.153.131 (talk)

Montenegro[edit]

The map below the “Overview” section of European countries shows Montenegro as a federation, although it is unitary.

This page dabbling in original research[edit]

This page smacks of original research.

Originally the government types on Wikipedia in the infoboxes came from the [www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/countries/ U.S. CIA World Factbook - here] which under "Government" tab listed what each government's type is.

Someone came along and created all new government types, it seems to get away from that convention and has been creating new ones such as for Barbados on Wikipedia they're calling it a "Unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy". To which I stated is completely wrong because it's not a unitary anything. Nothing in the government has announced that change to which this page was pointed to without any firm sources but goes on to call many other states unitary.

Currently the U.S. CIA World factbook calls Barbados a : "parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy; a Commonwealth realm".

Guyana [1] is called a : "parliamentary republic" Trinidad and Tobago [2] is called a : "parliamentary republic"

This page seems to use a single page to say what a "unitary state" is [3] but that site doesn't define every country and only lists a handful. So where are the rest getting their confirmation from in order to not be Original research. CaribDigita (talk) 01:49, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • FYI The current reference added for Barbados does not use "unitary state" anywhere in the entire news article. Not even once. CaribDigita (talk) 09:33, 6 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The pathway of regional integration or separation image.[edit]

The image captioned 'the pathway of regional integration or separation' may be difficult to read for visually impaired people. If this information was presented in text or a table, it would be easier to read, and it would allow for internal links and citations. --Oakime (talk) 13:29, 17 May 2022 (UTC)oakimeReply[reply]

Tanzania[edit]

The merger of Tanganyika and Zanzibar might be unitary on their own right but their merger while maintaining their local laws and presidency complicates the Unitarian ness of it unless Zanzibar presidency and government was dissolved and absolved into Mainland Tanganyika and made a province with a local gvt hence it should be somehow be federal and unitary on their own 169.255.184.173 (talk) 10:33, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
