When it comes to wrestling gimmicks, The Undertaker might really be the greatest character of all time. Now retired, The Undertaker stayed in the business for over 30 years. He wrestled in over 700 matches on television, and over 2000+ matches overall if we also include house shows.

His gimmick had layers, and while fans would’ve loved to see the legend keep going even to this day, everyone has to retire eventually. The Undertaker last wrestled at WrestleMania 36 against AJ Styles, and finally said goodbye to his in-ring career. Since then, The Undertaker has started to do more out-of-character interviews and has even started a podcast of his own. While on television, The Undertaker was a scary dude who could do mysterious things, but he’s a family guy behind the scenes. He’s married to a fellow retired wrestler, Michelle McCool, and has five children of his own as well.

The Undertaker Was Married To Jodi Lynn

While he’s currently married to Michelle McCool, The Undertaker’s first wife was Jodi Lynn. They got married on November 24, 1989, and their marriage lasted for 10 years before they separated.

In those ten years, Undertaker and Jodi had one son together named Gunner Vincent Calaway. He was born in 1993 — three years after Undertaker made his WWE debut. By that point, Undertaker and Vince McMahon had become good friends, and that’s why The Deadman decided to give his first child the middle name of Vince.

Usually, when you have a parent who’s super successful in the wrestling business, chances are you’ll follow in their footsteps. But with Gunner, that wasn’t the case. During an interview with Chandler Sorrells, he talked about his real-life interests and said he was more interested in working as a video game artist. Although, as a child, Gunner did consider becoming a wrestler, he later found his passion lay somewhere else.

"As you get older, you get into your teenage years and kind of want to be independent, and find your own interests. So, in my young adult life I steered away from [wrestling] and tuned in when it was necessary.” (h/t Wrestling Inc)

Following his divorce from Jodi, he married Sara Frank in 2000. Their relationship mattered a lot to The Deadman, and he even got a throat tattoo of his then-wife’s first name. It has since been covered up.

Unlike Jodi, Sara was featured in The Undertaker’s wrestling storylines. Remember when DDP made his WWE debut, and they had him stalk Sara? She even made her wrestling debut in August 2001 and defeated DDP in 6 seconds. This was one of the worst moments of DDP’s wrestling career.

Now that he’s retired, The Undertaker gets to spend more time with his children, which is something he didn’t do often during his prime, and it hurt his relationship with his family. That changed after he married Michelle, and got to see his children grow from a young age. He talked about this on a True Georgie podcast episode. The Undertaker said:

“My relationship with my kids, my older kids, they had to pay a sacrifice for me to do and become what I am. You can look back, you learn from your mistakes. I was fortunate enough that I remarried, Michelle and I, now we have young children. So I was blessed enough to get a second chance to be a dad and be a husband. But I had no business being married while trying to build this character and this legacy.” (H/t Wrestling Inc)
