So these were the characters originally going to appear in The Uncanny X-men. Instead, editorial and writers decided to merge these four to create Storm. Imagine what if Marvel today introduced these four current X-Men titles and how would they introduce them? What’s their interaction with the team?

Trio was intended for a spin-off of DC’s Legion of Super-Heroes. Her character came from Cargg, the same planet as Duo Damsel/Triplicate Girl (later Triad). Think a smaller scale female Madrox. Trio would appear alongside Nightcrawler, originally designed for DC.

I think I remember reading a article somewhere that Storm and Nightcrawler were almost DC characters.

Woah that’s cool. Never seen that before. It’s interesting they dis assemble the designs on those characters to make each separate x-men. That first character looks like storm fused with wolverine or wolfsbane and the last character looks like a fusion of thunderbird with storm powers. It’s interesting looking at their brainstorming process.

Quetzal kind of reminds me of Dinah Soar from the GLA....

Well Black Cat, Quetzal and Typhoon were combined into Storm. Which is very funny, since now it can be said the first version of Storm was a pink flamingo woman (the first rejected name for Quetzali was Flamingo) Trio was pitched for the Legion of Super Heroes, not X-men.

Though a character that was pitched for Giant Size X-men and rejected was a guy with bat wings called "Vampyre" That is a character I'd love to see in the X-men since (at least the last time I looked) they never had a member with bat or demon wings (that alternate version of Pixie was only temporary) and I really like bat/de on wings. Iirc he was rejected because the higher ups thought he looked too similar to Nightcrawler. Even if it was that way, it would have been fun to have Vampyre or another character with bat/demon wings among the New Mutants, or have him introduced either after the Mutant Massacre or during the Outback era.
