UCLA Baseball Unveils 2022 Schedule

December 13, 2021 | Baseball

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA baseball program on Monday officially announced its schedule for the 2022 season. The 56-game slate features 31 home contests at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Bruins open the 2022 campaign with a three-game set at home against CSUN from Feb. 18-20.

"We're really excited about our schedule for the upcoming season," said UCLA head coach John Savage. "We think it will be a good test for our club – both inside and outside of league play – as we work to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament."

New for the 2022 season is the Pac-12 Baseball Tournament, held in Scottsdale, Ariz. at Scottsdale Stadium, the Spring Training home of the San Francisco Giants. The five-day, double-elimination tournament runs from May 25-29 and features the top eight seeds in the conference. The winner of the tourney will earn the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The Bruins are also happy to announce the return of the alumni game, which will be played Feb. 5 at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

UCLA's non-conference slate is highlighted by a trip to Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, for the 2022 Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic from Mar. 4-6. The Bruins will face off against Big-12 powers Baylor, Oklahoma, and Texas during that weekend. The tournament field also includes LSU and Tennessee.

Elsewhere, the Bruins' non-conference weekend schedule features home series against UC Riverside (Feb. 25-27) and Harvard (Mar. 18-20).

UCLA is scheduled for home-and-home midweek series against local rivals Pepperdine, Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine. The Bruins will also host Omaha at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Feb. 23.

Pac-12 competition begins with a three-game home series against USC from Mar. 11-13, with the Pac-12 Networks televising all three games in the set. The Bruins will also host conference rivals Oregon (Apr. 1-3), Stanford (Apr. 14-16), Arizona State (Apr. 29 to May 1), and Washington State (May 13-15).

UCLA will travel for Pac-12 sets at Arizona (Mar. 25-27), Utah (Apr. 8-10), California (Apr. 22-24), Washington (May 6-8), and Oregon State (May 19-21).

The Bruins are currently slated to have 18 games televised this year, including the first three midweeks of the year and weekend sets against USC, Stanford, Washington, Washington State, and Oregon State.

Following the Pac-12 Tournament, the 2022 NCAA Tournament begins with Regionals from Jun. 3-5 followed by Super Regionals from Jun. 10-12. The 2022 College World Series is scheduled to run from Jun. 17-27 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.

UCLA is coming off a 2021 season that saw the team post a 37-20 record and earn a No. 2 seed in Regionals, the program's 24th NCAA Tournament berth all-time. After having an NCAA-high 10 players selected in the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft, UCLA augmented the roster by bringing in the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation.
