2023 Timeline: April 19, 2023 few waitlist admits. Few International along with IS admits on May 2, 2023. Small wave May 11 and May 18. UCI denials on June 30.

Below are some Waitlist stats from the last few years. Remember the # admitted varies from year to year.

General Waitlist information:

  1. No specific timeline for waitlist admits. If space opens up before the SIR deadline of May 15, then students can be pulled from the waitlist.
  2. Residency type and major are not broken out for the UC waitlists
  3. The number of enrolled waitlisted students is not listed.
  4. No LOCI’s since UC’s do not consider demonstrated interest. Opting into the waitlist shows your interest in attending.
  5. Opting into the waitlist is by invitation only.
  6. You cannot appeal your decision while on the waitlist.

No given now we have UCLA and USC as well.

Does UC Irvine accept senior year grades, LOCIs, LORs etc. for students on the waitlist?

No, UCI does not accept any documentation from waitlisted students. The only UC that accepts updated grades and a waitlist statement is now UCLA. All the other UC campuses only ask you opt into the waitlist.

Edited: UC Davis asks for updated Senior grades from waitlisted students.

Are Waitlisted students allowed at 4/20 Celebrate UCI - Admitted Anteater Day?

S24 Waitlisted at UC Irvine for Physics and opted in. It has been his 1st choice since our Nov 2022 visit and remains in his top 3 with UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara, both of which we are attending the respective open houses on 4/6 and 4/13.

Note: Our high school has not had any students enrolled at UCI for the past 2 years. I hope that didn’t factor in their modeling of admission offers. See Student Enrollment and select School Admitted From

Do you know if there is good chance of getting off the waitlist at UCI?

As you can see the waitlist admits vary each year so no one can predict a students chances. It will depend upon how many students enroll by May 15.

Circling back - I called the UCI Office of Admissions and they said Celebrate UCI was only for admitted students.

Thank you for the information. I know some schools do allow waitlisted students to attend these events.

Last year, there were waitlist waves on 4/19 and 5/11.
