Superintendent

Welcome to the 23-24 school year!

I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Tukwila School District community. As your interim superintendent, I am committed to working with you to ensure that all our students are inspired, challenged, and prepared to succeed at whatever path they choose for themselves after graduation.

One of my core beliefs is that we become stronger when we prioritize listening to our students, staff and families. I commit to spending time over the next few months listening and learning with all of you, while also analyzing the district’s significant strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Together, we will co-create our focus on what matters most - educating our students and strengthening relationships within our district and the broader community. I have identified three priorities for this year:

  • Prioritizing growth for community, staff and students: The Tukwila School District believes that our students, staff, and families have the ability to achieve at their highest potential. Our core purpose is to engage students intellectually and socially with authentic and substantive learning experiences.  My primary mission is to put support in place for our principals to lead their schools, so they in turn can put the conditions in place for our teachers and staff to educate our students. I will ensure that we are all working together each day so our students will be successful and productive members of society.

  • Building trust: Strong relationships with families and community. As your interim superintendent, I will ensure our families and community members feel welcome and heard in our district as I begin to listen and learn from the community. With a focus on building and maintaining relationships, I will work with the School Board and our tremendous staff to ensure transparency and trust are centered.

  • Creating a healthy, safe and supportive district culture: ALL staff are valued, engaged and successful. Ensuring staff members have the support they need to be successful is essential.  While we have we as a district will have to make some budgetary decisions, prioritizing a safe and healthy school culture will be centered in our decisions.

You have amazing school leaders and educators ready to welcome your family to the school year.  Have a wonderful start to the school year.
