Shunned and ridiculed all her life for something she can’t control, Samantha Blair hides her psychic abilities. She lives on the fringes of society – until drawn out.
Against her will, she taps into a killer’s victims. Each woman’s murder, blow-by-blow, ravages her mind until their death finally releases her. Sam goes to the authorities, but will the rugged, no-nonsense detective in charge of tracking down the killer want anything to do with her?
Detective Brandt Sutherland only trusts hard evidence. Yet Sam’s visions offer clues he needs. Desperately. He learns they come at a terrible price though. And the more he discovers about her abilities, the more worried he gets. Her visions threaten the killer.
Danger and desire collide. And now Brandt must play a deadly game he dare not lose. If he does, Sam won’t have a vision of the next murder.

Samantha Blair is psychic, 28 years old and for several years she is being drawn into bloodcurdling visions of women dying at the hands of a serial killer and these visions happen in real time. Sam experiences everything that happens not only emotionally but also physically. Her body bears the wounds of the victims for a few hours after her visions. She understand that she is only there because it is her duty to help these women to pass over in death. She can’t identify the killer for he wears a ski mask or in some way is able to hide his identify. When she first began to have these visions, she went to the authorities for help, but her stories sounded so far-fetched no one took her seriously. Eventually she runs into Detective Brandt Sutherland, who takes her seriously because he has known another psychic named Stefan. Sam really doesn’t understand how to handle her visions and Stefan helps her understand what she needs to do to protect herself.
As Sam describes her visions to Brandt, he believes her and is afraid for her for if the law gets close to this murderer, he may attempt to kill Sam. He enjoys killing and he uses cruel and extraordinary ways to make his victim suffer to the nth degree. Sam lives alone out in the country and is vulnerable to anyone. She works for the local veterinarian and owns a dog Moses. But the vet is about to euthanize a German Shepherd dog who had been badly wounded and is so vicious that the vet feels he is too dangerous for anyone to handle. But Sam’s gentleness and natural instinct to handle animals, keeps him under control and actually he is her savior because of his viciousness and protective training. Brand realizes that he once was an animal used by the military or police and can control him by using the proper orders.
Although Sam is physically delicate and each time she has a vision, it takes some time for her to recover, she feels her gift is to be used to help these women. Her weakness is that she doesn’t know how to protect herself from the suffering of the women who die, which weakens Sam.
There are other interesting characters and some humor as Brandt’s mother wants grandchildren and she keeps arranging for Brandt to meet these young women at her apartment (she lives in independent living) and her character and shenanigans balance out the horror.
This is an entertaining plot for those who like the paranormal, mystery and murder all thrown in the mix. I recommend this story on the basis of that particular genre.

Unable to sit idly as a monster stalks his next victim and putting aside her previous experience with skeptics, Sam goes to the police station and tells them about her visions. Not surprisingly, they don’t believe her and send her way.
That’s where Detective Brandt Sutherland comes in. He’s a determined man on the hunt for an elusive serial killer that has been killing in plain sight for decades. Working on his own to find connections between random murders, Brandt overhears about the ‘psychic’. Sam has valuable insight to a recent murder that Brandt believes is connected to his man-hunt.
This brings Sam and Brandt together, giving each something they didn’t even know was missing. Sam has been on the run from her past and her gift for so long that she doesn’t know another way of life, but Brandt becomes exactly what she needs to finally stick around and fight for the life she has begun making for herself. On his part, Sam pulls at Brandt in a way no one ever has before and even as she tests his beliefs he can’t stay away.
Tuesday’s Child is one of the best, most thought out, and well written books I have read in a while. Dale Mayer is definitely an author I will be on the lookout for.
Samantha is an amazing character. She’s tough and independent yet fragile, unsure, and awkward. Having led an unbelievably hard life since childhood, she has had to be on the defensive her entire life. The character itself is realistic and comes to life on the pages. She is an inherently good person with believable flaws that don’t detract from her status as a worthy heroine.
Brandt on his part is everything you want in a protagonist. He’s a strong-willed man with a great heart. Sam pushes his beliefs like nothing else has and he deals with it in a manner that is admirable while still feeling authentic.
Dale Mayer takes two worlds that I love, murder suspense and supernatural, and is able to meld them together to create a vivid world with characters that jump from the page.
This book was one of those books that barely halfway through, I already mourned the loss of these characters and their stories.

Narrator: Jessica Hazard
Samantha Blair has learnt to hide her psychic abilities but when she’s not only witnessing but reliving the deaths of murdered women she reaches out to the detective in charge and hopes she won’t be ridiculed again.
I enjoyed the whole storyline, Sam having physical manifestations of the attacks is not something I’ve encountered in a book before so that made it more interesting and the characters were likeable, would I pick up the next book …… yes I will be.
