What she doesn’t want...is exactly what he needs.

Shunned and ridiculed all her life for something she can’t control, Samantha Blair hides her psychic abilities and lives on the fringes of society. Against her will, however, she’s tapped into a killer—or rather, his victims. Each woman’s murder, blow-by-blow, ravages her mind until their death releases her back to her body. Sam knows she must go to the authorities, but will the rugged, no-nonsense detective in charge of tracking down the killer believe her?

Detective Brandt Sutherland only trusts hard evidence, yet Sam’s visions offer clues he needs to catch a killer. The more he learns about her incredible abilities, however, the clearer it becomes that Sam’s visions have put her in the killer’s line of fire. Now Brandt must save her from something he cannot see or understand…and risk losing his heart in the process.

As danger and desire collide, passion raises the stakes in a game Sam and Brandt don’t dare lose.

Length - 90,000 words.
Excerpt

Agony. Pain. Terror.
A voice whispered through the blackness of her mind, so odd, so different it caught her attention. She strained to hear the words.
“Let go. It’s time to let go.”
Sam stared through the flames, stunned. Let go of what? She couldn’t hear over the roaring fire and could barely see, but knowing that someone was there stirred her survival instinct, and she fought with the seatbelt buckle jammed at her side. She was saved. Just another minute and they’d open the door and pull her free. She’d be fine.
“Please hurry,” she cried out.
“Let go. You don’t need to be in there. Let it all go, and come with me.”
She peered through the golden orange windshield to see a strange male face peering at her through the flames.
He smiled.
“Come with me.”
“I want to, damn it. Can’t you see I’m trapped?” she screamed, her vocals crisping in the heat.
“Release yourself. Come with me. Say yes.”
The pain hit a crescendo. She twisted against it, hearing her spine splinter. The car seat melted into her skin. So much pain, she couldn’t breathe. Blackness crowded into her mind, blessed quiet, soothing darkness. She reached for it.
“Let it go. You don’t need to go through this. Hurry.”
She started. Why wasn’t he opening the door or getting others to help? He should be trying to save her. Shouldn’t he? Sam, so confused and so tired, she could barely feel the pain overtaking her body. Where had he gone? She tried to concentrate. His face was now only a vague outline that rippled with the heat waves. A soft smile played at the corner of his mouth. The flames burned around him, weird as they centered him in the warm glow. She wanted to be with him. To live.
“Here, take my hand.”
Dazed and on the brink of death, Sam focused on the hand reaching for her. She struggled to raise the charred piece of flesh that had been her arm and reached out to grasp his.
She was free.
Overwhelmed, she turned to hug her savior, her head just reaching his shoulder. He stood beside her, the same radiant beaming look on his face. His blond hair glowed, and he had the brightest teeth. She sighed. This beautiful man pointed to her right arm. Confused, Sam glanced down at her burned arm, realizing she could feel none of her injuries. Just like her other one, her broken arm had miraculously healed – whole, smooth and soft. Her skin hadn’t looked this good in ten years.
She spun around to find a massive fireball below. What the hell? She had to be dead.

Tuesday's Child by Dale Mayer is the 1st book in her paranormal Psychic Visions Series and I am happy that I decided to continue with this series after receiving a free copy for an honest review by the author, which was the 10th ....Into the Abyss https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

This story revolves around Samantha Blair, a psychic woman who sees and feels people being murdered. She's wary about telling the police about these visions as she's been "burnt" when she previously had offered assistance.

When Detective Brandt Sutherland asks Sam for help with one of his cases, she agrees to work with him in finding the serial killer before he kills again and also before he kills her.

I liked the main characters and there are some great secondary characters introduced in this story, which I am so eager to discover more about....like the super psychic Stefan. I am so interested in finding out more about him and his powers.

This is another paranormal mystery, filled with suspense and intrigue and twists and twirls and turns...........okay, I might have guessed who the killer was half-way...but still surprised at the end!!

I liked the pacing of the story in though the ending felt a bit rushed.

A good start to the series.

Hey! I'm giving a 3-star rating to a book that isn't a total Meh Fest! Pretty amazing huh?! This one is actually pretty entertaining *gasps*

You know what's even more surprising? I fully expected to dislike this. First of all it's a mystery, a genre I gave up on ages ago after years of bingeing on it. And no you are not dreaming, this is shelved as romantic suspense. Yes it is. And I read it. And didn't fall into a sugar shock-induced coma. And still gave it 3 stars. Please refrain from fainting.

I'm a hate/love kind of girl so I rarely give 3-star ratings. It's usually 1/2 or 4/5. But I've read so many crappy books this year (I think my DNF graveyard is about to implode) that my perspective is starting to shift. Or maybe I just lowered my standards drastically. These days, if a book isn't pure crap and/or infuriating and/or stupid-stupid-stupid, that works for me. So even though this wasn't mind-blowingly amazing, I still enjoyed for what it was: a light, entertaining read. Damn. I'm becoming desperately reasonable and terrifyingly undemanding in my old age. This is so scary. I want my former self back.

► Anyway, the mystery is your standard serial killer story but it held my interest, probably because of the paranormal aspect of the plot. The romance *gasps again* wasn't too aggressive so I survived. The heroine isn't a total idiot. Neither is the male mc. There are interesting secondary characters. The book isn't badly written. I probably will have forgotten all about it in about month but it was enjoyable enough while it lasted. Plus it's free. What more do you want?

►► PS: if anyone would care to explain the book title, I'd be eternally full of grate ← yes, I KNOW I'm supposed to say "grateful" here. But I like "full of grate" better. So lighten up, you vocabulary freaks. I'm a non-native English speaker anyway. I can write any nonsense I like and blame it on my poor language skills. Ha.

I thought this was edited by several people?

For free you get:

~ typos
~ pronoun confusion (or surprise gender changes, as I like to call them)
~ grammatical issues and some poor sentence structure
~ nonsensical sentences
~ repeated lines and conversations
~ unnecessary POVs
~ story inconsistencies
~ a killer that disguises himself as elderly by wearing a crazy hat (don't ask me)

And so much more. I haven't even finished the book yet. I stopped at what I think is the beginning of a sex scene (I know, right? Finally! Sex makes almost everything better!)

Now, in the books defense, it's not chock full of these issues but they do all occur more than once and they really stand out in (what was at first) annoying ways. Now they are hilarious because about a third of the way in I started making notes and greatly amusing myself.

I cannot understand any 4 or 5 star reviews with all those issues but the premise is interesting. If the issues were fixed this might be a good book. ...Well, some of the dialogue could really use a little help, too.

Really though, it's not that bad. I've definitely read worse. I'll probably finish this book on another day when I am feeling more adventurous.

A great book about a psychic woman who has visions of people being murdered from the victims perspective. A policeman realises she could help him with one of his cases. They team up in more ways than one and its a thrilling ride right up to the last chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and would love to read more books about these characters, it would make a great crime series. I'll be checking out more books by this author who has a great gift for writing stories.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

How sexy was that? To actually know that someone was listening, paying attention.

This is the book that really got me hooked on ‘psychic character helps the police’. I literally can’t get enough of this very specific trope. Sure, the book is a little dated, but considering when it was written and the fact that it’s M/F, I would expect a lot worse, lol. I’ve read it god-only-knows how many times, but was stoked to have access to the audiobook. It had also been a while since last time I read it, which made it a little bit more fun.

It’s got a good mystery where it’s also kinda not a mystery because you get chapters and scenes from the killer’s POV, but I love that. My biggest issue with the book is that it uses the words ‘females’ and ‘males’ quite consistently, which I really, really dislike, lol. Overall tho, heavy on the case solving and trust building between Brandt and Sam, lighter on the romance but what is there really brings it all together. Old but gold.

She needed a keeper. Someone to make sure she ate and rested. If no one else was in her life, then maybe, just maybe, the job fell to him.

Animals offered a respite for her senses. They exuded calm, peaceful energy waves. People, on the other hand, lived on emotion. They constantly projected erratic bursts of painful energy. The larger bursts from strong emotions hurt her the most. Happier, lighter emotions were easier to tolerate. But, when people were angry or upset, overwhelmed in grief, or even sometimes when they were ecstatic, they exploded with energy. For Sam, these waves became almost solid walls, pounding against her.

This story missed the mark, for me. I liked the plot and the characters, but they seemed to contradict themselves at times, which made it hard for me to connect. I'm wavering between 3 stars and 4 because I felt like the author could have done a better job defining the characters, their motivations, their thoughts, their actions, and their dialogue.

To add to that, there were some major editing issues. Misplaced quotation marks all over the place made me re-read several spots to figure out what the author intended. Most frustrating of all, there were at least 2 scenes that referenced something that did not happen until later in the book. Apparently the author moved things around, which is to be expected, but no one read for continuity afterward?

So, overall, the story generally delivered, but didnt quite provide well-thought-out elements. The editing issues just added to the problem.

Looking at Max you'd think she was either homeless or that she has seen more in this world than anyone should. Max has secluded herself for a reason. She's a psychic and experiences everything that a current serial killer does to his victims. She wants to tell the police but is afraid of the consequences. Last time people found out about her abilities she was miserable. But Max couldn't just let the killer continue without trying to catch him so she goes into one of Portland's police station. This time she has a lot better luck with Detective Brendt. Working together they are determined to stop this maniac and Detective Brendt is just as determined to keep Max safe.

This is the first book I've read by Dale Mayer and I found the story, writing and character good.
However, I thought the Author 'rushed' the ending to 'tie things up'.

I still want to read the second book in this series because Ms. Mayer's imagination and story-line has intrigued me.

Another free paranormal download, as I apparently still haven't learnt my lesson, that turned out to be another meh-fest with an irritating heroine, a romantic interest with whom she shares no chemistry and some incredibly strange writing choices.

Suffering from visions of the violent deaths of a serial killer's victims, Sam has retreated from the world. Apparently (according to her) shunned due to her abilities and having no friends (which is nonsense as pretty much everyone in the book seems to think of nothing but her), Sam makes the difficult decision to go to the police with what she knows. Initially laughed out of the station, she soon comes across a detective who is as eager to buy her visions as credible evidence as he is to get into her pants. And so begins their journey into romance, and half-hearted attempts to catch a killer.

So many things bugged me about this book - the fact that Sam drank her tea 'with a gentle serving of cream' (maniac), that the killer apparently had 'green neon' eyes (which should have made him incredibly easy to identify), that a man in his prime can simply wear a crazy hat in order to seem elderly, and that all anyone in the book thought about was bloody Sam. The cops that should be catching a killer spend all their time thinking about her, her love interest's mother and her cronies talk about nothing else, and everyone else she comes across is desperate to care for and protect her. Even the fact that her visions manifested physically, meaning she'd wake up slashed to smithereens with her mattress soaked in blood, annoyed me - especially as she never seemed to then clean that mattress or have a bunch of spares lying around. Her sexytimes with Brandt on that mattress must have been quite the minging experience.

Apparently just the first instalment in a series, I won't be picking up any more.

I read this book at camp. I actually finished yesterday, but.... no internet!! Yes, i know, I was also a bit lazy, the computer wasn't in my building...

Anyway, the book was good, i guess. But the idea was not that original. I read a book quite similar to this one. I mean it was better than others, just not the best.
If you like thriller-type or whatever, i guess this is a maybe type of book.

The first book in the Psychic Visions series by Dale Mayer. Samantha Blair aka Sam experiences visions of murder. She experiences what the victim does. She reports her latest psychic vision to the police but is brushed off as a crazy. But Detective Brandt Sutherland thinks differently and go to see Sam to get more information.

A freebie and my first book by this author. I didn't read anything new. I have read this same plot many times and I do like it. I liked the style of writing and will certainly read more.

I picked up this book for free, thought the blurb sounded interesting and gave it a shot. Initially the book and the premise reminded me a little of a Cynthia Eden book (and I’m a huge fan of hers). I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect since I didn’t read any reviews before starting. Tuesday’s Child is the story of Sam who through her psychic abilities has to live through a serial killers violent murders. She actually becomes each victim while the event is taking place and then she is able to transition back to her own body. Scary stuff. Enter Detective Brandt Sutherland who is investigating a violent serial killer. He is drawn in by Sam and reaches out to her when she reports a murder to the police.

I actually really liked this book and thought it had very good bones. I liked both main characters. I felt sorry for Sam and the loneliness that resulted from her abilities. I thought Brandt was a major cutie. I even loved the supporting cast of senior citizens (Brandt’s mom was a star!). Unfortunately, there just wasn’t enough romance in it for me. I like my romances pretty steamy and the two main characters in this book didn’t even kiss until the latter part of the book. On one hand, it was nice to see their relationship develop over the course of the book but on the other hand, there just wasn’t enough steam to keep me entertained. I think Brandt totally could have steamed up the pages. Too bad the author didn't go there.

Tuesday’s Child is actually book one in the Psychic Visions series. I would definitely read more in the series if there was more romance/steam in the books. If steam factor isn’t a major consideration, I would definitely recommend this book for something different to read. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn’t read anything else in the series as it’s just not smutty enough for me. So shoot me!

I've read other books where the protagonist is psychic - some good, some bad. This one I really enjoyed. The author has written an intriguing story that embodies suspense, mystery, romance, and paranormal elements all in one that makes this book a real page-turner. It's a well-written story that moves at a good pace, always keeping the reader engaged. Also, the characters that are likeable and well developed, especially Samantha, a very complex individual. What Samantha experienced each time a person was being killed definitely kept me engrossed in the story.

What I really appreciated, the serial killer for once was not someone who worked with the police, or was related to a main character, or friends with, etc., a theme used quite often in many other novels.

Also, a HUGE plus for me - the characters didn't declare their love for each other. They care deeply for one another; taking one day at a time as they move forward in their relationship, growing into love. Finally! What a refreshing way to end the story. I only wish more authors would follow this format.

As for the reason I didn't give it five stars, because I thought the ending fell flat. It was wrapped up too quickly. I think a little more insight into the killer and who he really was would have helped, but that's just my opinion.

In the end, I have to give this book 4.5 stars. Highly recommend this to others, and the best part, it's FREE right now at Amazon; however, considering I really enjoyed this book, I would have paid for it. I look forward to many more books by this author.

Samantha Blair grew up with her psychic abilities and often was treated like an outcast because of it. When she begins to have visions of women being murdered she knows she will likely be sent away but reaches out to the police.

Detective Brandt Sutherland wonders if what Sam is saying is true and when he asks her for help, he doesn't realize that it will put her in the serial killers sight. Not to mention there are those in his department who treat her with disbelief. Can they find the killer before it is too late?

Intriguing story. I felt for Sam, she is a wounded soul who has been treated poorly in her young life. Liked Brandt a lot, he was a powerhouse where Sam was concerned. Would read more in this series.

Good suspense

Really liked the psychic dog whisperer character Sam in the story. She was a great heroine. I loved Soldier the German shepherd too.He had been abused and he was in so much pain. The Hero Brandt was good too. Liked him and I was glad to see them together. His mother was a hoot with her illicit gambling pools at the senior citizen home. The killer is vile and he tortured his victims terribly. It was awful to read. And the heroine bleeds too when they bleed. Had stab wounds that healed too and it was just eerie. never saw that before. More of a thriller with a bit of romance so just be ready for that. the ending was kind of quick and a little anti-climactic

This was an interesting idea--psychic woman not only sees murders but experiences them from within the body of the victim--and it started off well, but my goodness it moved slowly. Lots of repetition and not much progress. I'd think "okay, we must be coming up to the (predictable) end now", then look down at my progress bar and see it had barely moved. Sigh.

On the plus side, there are a couple of lovely doggie characters. I doubt I'd have finished if it hadn't been for Soldier.

So here's the thing... I don't understand the title at all. There is absolutely nothing in this story that correlates. If you perform a word search for "Tuesday" in this book, it only shows up in the title and acknowledgements. It's really confusing me.

I'm basically taking off one star because some stuff that should have happened on-page happened off and we're told about it later and I just, meh. I think it was a poor choice on the author's behalf and it left me with a bit of a negative impression when I finished reading.

It felt like the author introduced too many plot threads and then either forgot about them or tried to tie them up too quickly instead of dropping them altogether. The hero wasn't well developed, but the focus was definitely on the heroine so I can forgive that. Her character development seemed slight, but I think it was realistic. My favorite part of this story was her gift and I wish the author had given us some more page time on that. But considering her gift, I think the heroine's character development was on point. Baby steps, you know? Anyway, I really enjoyed this one. I thought the slow burn romance worked pretty well and the heroine's psychic gift is super intriguing.

I wish this series continued to focus on this couple, I think they would be an interesting crime solving team with her getting violent visions of death and him having to solve the cases. And I do feel like the author left a lot unresolved that would work well in a continuing story arc. Alas, perhaps a missed opportunity. So yeah, like -1 star for all those complaints.

But some of the blurbs for the rest of the series sound interesting, so I'll randomly check them out when I've got a chance.

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review**

Review: I was so excited to dive into this book! Although I read a lot of different genres now, my first love was the mystery/suspense/murder type novels involving the police or FBI. In fact, Kay Hooper's Bishop/Special Crimes series is one of my favorite series of all time, and it also deals with psychics. In Tuesday's Child we meet Samantha Blair, who has an unusual "gift"; she ends up trapped in the minds of victims. They are always violent crimes and she is able to see what they're seeing...and feel and experience all of the pain and injuries that are inflicted. Feeling that it's her duty to report these murders, she goes to the police, knowing that she'll be met with scepticism and disbelief. Fate intervenes and Detective Brandt Sutherland comes sweeping into her life. Like everyone he's confused by Sam's abilities, but her accurate descriptions of the crime scenes don't lie. If Brandt wants to catch the brutal serial killer he's been chasing, he's going to have to rely on Sam's visions. Will they be able to stop him, or will Sam pay the ultimate price?

1) Character Development: I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Samantha ("Sam") was extremely tough and resilient. A person would have to be to live through what she has. It seemed like every time people found out about her abilities, they shunned her and she was forced to move and start her life over anew. Having to experience the terror and pain that the victims went through would be extremely difficult. Instead of acting like a victim herself, Sam tried to help the police solve these crimes and make the most out of her "gift". It would be hard to go to the police though, when either they don't believe in the abilities or they make her a suspect. I liked Brandt immediately because he had worked with psychics before and didn't automatically discount Sam, even though he was a bit wary of what she was telling him. He was like a rock for Sam, always there for her whether she wanted him to or not and he felt the need to take care of her which was really sweet. Then there's Stefan, a fellow psychic, who Brandt calls in to help Sam gain control over her abilities. Without his help she most likely would have died, with the suffering and injuries taking a larger toll on her each time. There were quite a few other secondary characters, such as other detectives and Brandt's mother, but you'll have to read the book to find out more about them.

2) The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly: First, The Good - The characters were amazing, I never had any trouble connecting with them at all. The blossoming romance between Sam and Brandt was a nice touch and I thought they balanced each other out nicely. I loved how this story was different than the others I've read; Sam not only was inside the victim's mind at the time of the attack, but she also felt every injury and the wounds manifested themselves on her skin as well, further threatening her life. The author's writing is very smooth and the entire book flowed well; I had trouble putting it down! The Bad - I don't really have much negative to say about this book. One thing is I wish Stefan would have made more of an appearance in this book. I liked his character and I felt like we didn't get to see enough of him. I would have enjoyed a scene or two of him working with Sam to see how she gradually learned more control. Also, I felt a little disappointed about the killer, or rather the identity of the killer. I'm not going to go into any more detail than that because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone. The Ugly - Nothing to say here, really enjoyed this book!

3) Romance Sizzle Or Fizzle?: I would definitely say sizzle. Sam and Brandt's romance was a gradual thing, even though there was a definite connection between the two from the beginning. Brandt didn't push her into anything, because he knew she wasn't really used to getting close to people. I just found them to be incredibly sweet and perfect for each other.

4) Uniqueness Of Plot: The story wasn't incredibly unique, as I've read quite a few psychic novels previously. But the degree to which Sam's abilities went, the fact that she not only felt but experienced the same injuries as the victim was very different and I enjoyed reading about it.

5) Final Thoughts: From the first page I knew I would enjoy this book. Suspense novels with psychic characters always grab my attention because it gives a new dimension to the search for the killer. I loved the characters, the story, and the romance. Wonderful first read in this new series, I look forward to seeing what's next!

Free on Kindle! This story reminds me of Linda Howard's Dream Man except that Sam is inside the dying women!

Psychological/thriller romance

I enjoyed this book, it was a good read although I couldn’t help but be reminded of Dream Man by Linda Howard. It has a lot of similarities to Dream Man but managed to be different in other aspects. You will not know who the serial killer is until near the end, which keeps you turning the page just to find out who is behind the murders.

I have to say Samantha’s character was a bit cold to me (I understand that due to her gift, she had withdrawn from the world but still… she just seemed like a quitter and whiner). I couldn’t connect with her and I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two characters, in fact, it was almost stilted. I can’t really say what it is exactly. Linda Howard’s character for example had kind of the same ‘gift’ but I could still connect with her and the chemistry was definitely there between the two characters whereas not so much with Brandt and Samantha.

There were also a lot of grammatical errors, poor sentence structure which distracted me a little from the story. The killer’s POV aside there was a lot of other POVs that were unnecessary and did not really add anything to the story.

Despite this I would still recommend this story to suspense/thriller romance enthusiasts.

After finishing this book, I was quite surprised to learn that this author is multi-published. It reads more like a first draft of a beginning author. Having recently read several "free" downloaded books, I am becoming increasingly frustrated with lack of proper editing. Thus my harsher than usual rating. It seems as though publishers are churning out book after book without taking the time to make sure they are putting forth a good product. This book is no exception. It's bumpy and disjointed. POVs that add no value, references that haven't occurred yet, choppy transitions and then, my biggest pet-peeve, grammar & punctuation errors (there's no excuse - hire a proofreader!). Additionally, the romantic connection of the two main characters makes zero sense and is uninteresting.

The story is rather a trope-ridden with the h really suffering from visions. Of course, she's a foster kid who loves animals, is very poor and psychic. Her visions are brutal but there were inconsistencies. She links to the victims and bleeds as they do, blankets are cut too but little mention of washing or cleaning up. The H is a policeman, and by chance he has a psychic friend who offers to 'train' her. Most of the police are either corrupt, lazy or just plan stupid. The exception was the H's boss, and he seemed powerless.

3.5 Stars... This is one of those books that starts out very strong with a great premise and then begins to shift a bit in it's quality... My biggest issue with this read is the editing...There are time stamps throughout the chapters, but they truly serve no purpose and are actually quite confusing... The book starts off stating that it is March, the next chapter states it is May, then June appears, yet in the writing it says "...the hot July sun..."... I didn't know what month the story was taking place... In addition, there were POV's that seemed unnecessary to the storyline and slowed the pacing of the read, yet there were other characters written in a way that made it seem as if I should already be familiar with them and their role in the story (Stefan)... Overall, the writing technique needs cleaned up and smoothed out for the storyline to emerge fully and grip the audience... I did, however, enjoy the characters and the premise of the story; both were unique, interesting, and engaging allowing me to continue despite the editing issues... I will continue with the second book in the series and see if the writing technique improves.:)

This book is amazing! I love the characters. What this character had to go through. How she survived. This book shows just how much a dog can save your life. It also shows you in this book, no matter the difference of a person, never, ever think of them as different or wrong.

This girl was an amazing characters. Of course one who eventually falls in love, understands that being different can also save those around you, Don't change who you are for others. Be yourself.
And all of this showed in this book! An amazing 5 star read!

I WILL read the other books in the series.

Samantha Blair is a psychic who unfortunately experiences her victims murder by seeing and feeling what they are right to their last breath. Brandt Sutherland, a detective from a different precinct, asks Sam for her help with a serial case he has been chasing for awhile and gets more than he was bargaining for.
The story moved smoothly for the most part and the character build was great. There are some smaller characters that I look forward to reading about maybe in future books but if not then I am still happy with what I read. I did find some of the chapters ending quite abruptly but not enough so to deter me away from the story.
I gave this story a 4 star for this reason and recommend this as a reading. This is the first book of the Psychic Visions series and they are stand alone stories.
