Triumph motorcycles have been around since 1902 when the first model, known aptly as the Triumph No. 1, was put into production. In terms of British manufacturers, Triumph is the longest running. They're also one of the most popular. The company has been through quite the evolution throughout its extensive history. It's had ups and downs and still remains a strong contender in the industry. Its early years were focused on producing racing bikes. During World War I, the company extended its production to benefit Allied troops with transportation. Many consider that era's “Trusty Triumph”, the Model H Roadster, to be the world's first modern motorcycle. Triumph motorcycles were again enlisted in the war effort during World War II.

The name become iconic in the world of cycles in the 1950s and 1960s in part due to its association with famous actors and celebrities like Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando and Evel Knievel. The company had a major transformation in 1983 when it was purchased by John Bloor after Triumph Engineering went into receivership.
