Ciaran Cullen

Ciaran Cullen joined the Merrimack College athletic department as the associate athletic director for external relations in June of 2019, representing a key addition to the athletic department’s senior leadership team.

Cullen has a proven record of revenue generation at several Division I institutions, where he has excelled in building relationships with key internal and external constituents to drive business development, corporate sponsorship, ticket and executive/VIP suite sales, fundraising results and innovative marketing initiatives. At Merrimack, Cullen’s role will focus on a multitude of revenue generation opportunities; he will oversee the areas of marketing, ticket operations and athletic communications.

Most recently, Cullen served as the associate athletic director for business development at the University of New Hampshire, While in Durham, he successfully identified key revenue opportunities while growing partnerships, driving outbound ticket sales strategies and overseeing box office operations. He also served as UNH’s associate director of athletics development for over two years, where he worked with the athletic director and all 20 varsity athletic programs and coaches to create and implement sport-specific strategies to grow participation numbers and fundraising results.

In addition, Cullen executed the priority parking program for football and men’s ice hockey and established a donor-based seating program in the new Wildcat Stadium, which helped propel the athletic annual giving program to $1 million.

Prior to UNH, Cullen spent two years as the assistant director of the Flynn Fund at Boston College, where he was a member of an annual fund team that generated over $6 million for the athletic department. Cullen also enjoyed prior stints at the University of Hartford as an assistant marketing director (2010-11) and was an athletics department intern with Boston College (2009-10), Springfield College (2007-09), Northeastern University (2008) and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (2006-07).

Cullen graduated from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Communications and was also a four-year letter winner as a member of the men's soccer team. He earned his master’s degree in Physical Education/Athletic Administration from Springfield College.
