Katie Price's cage fighter ex-husband Alex Reid is secretly training Carl Woods' opponent in next month's celebrity MMA tournament.

Former Hollyoaks star Alex, 46, has been coaching Geordie Shore's Robbie McMahon, 29, at training bases in London and Surrey over the past few weeks in a bid to get him in peak condition for the June fight.

And speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Alex – who hasn't seen Katie for over a decade – feels Robbie beating her current fiancé Carl in the cage would be 'karma for what she's put me through.'

Alex said: 'I'm trying to get Robbie in the best possible shape to win the fight. I want him to be an elite level fighting machine.

'I'm being professional and won't let what's happened between myself and Katie get in the way of how we prepare.

'But let's just say I'm determined to get Robbie where he needs to win and him beating Carl would be karma for what she's put me through.'

He added: 'It will be interesting to see if she pulls him out of the fight when she finds out I'm training Robbie.'

Alex was married to Katie for 11 months having met in 2009 after her split from Peter Andre.

They got hitched in Las Vegas in February 2010, weeks after Alex won the last ever Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 4, beating favourites Vinnie Jones and Dane Bowers.

Following his split from Katie he dated Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton, the mother of his daughter Dolly, but the pair split in October 2012.

He's now engaged to fiancée Nikki Manashe and the couple have a 10-month-old daughter, Anastasia.

Alex has kept a low profile in recent years, concentrating on his personal training business and looking after his young family.

But he appreciates his involvement in the Celebrity MMA TV show on June 24 at the OVO Arena Wembley will launch him back into the limelight once again, especially if he comes face-to-face with his former wife.

Asked how he would react seeing her, Alex said: 'I would be respectful if we met. But I won't let that overshadow the fight.

'I take my training seriously and ensuring Robbie performs well in the ring is my main focus.

'I have plenty of things to say about Katie but I'll let that lie for the time being.'

He recorded ten wins and ten loses in his 22-fight professional fight career, but has fought over 300 fights in total before retiring in 2016.

Alex says he's the 'perfect coach' for Robbie, given his expansive knowledge of the sport and his experience living the 'celebrity world', and his manager Lee Stafford is ensuring the ex-cage fighter gives his protégé the best possible training.

He explained: 'I've got a lot of fight intelligence and on top of that I've mixed in that celebrity world - so he's for the best of both.

'I can prepare psychologically, mentally, physically and spiritually for this event.

'I cover all the bases for Celebrity MMA – you couldn't get a better trainer – and I've trained world champions.'
