Spurs have the edge over rival suitors for £30m player likened to Mohamed Salah

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his ranks further.

Spurs have certainly improved since last season, but there’s still some work to do with regards to the quality and strength in depth of their squad.

Tottenham’s last match was a 4-0 hammering away at Newcastle and their hopes of a Premier League top-four finish are now at risk.

Whatever happens, Spurs are on the right track and it wouldn’t be surprising to see several more top players come through the door.

Midfield and attack are areas where Tottenham could look to strengthen, and one player they’ve been linked with can play across the whole front line, as a second striker, at No. 10 and even in midfield.

The player in question is Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson, who has been in brilliant form for the Serie A club this season and can play in a variety of positions.

Spurs have been linked with the Iceland international for a number of months, and now Calciomercato has provided an update involving the Lilywhites and the player.

What has been reported about Tottenham and Albert Gudmundsson?

The Italian outlet has claimed that Spurs are in the mix for Gudmundsson along with Inter Milan and Juventus.

However, the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri may struggle to reach Genoa’s valuation, which could exceed €35million (£30million).

A way round it would be with clauses and other ‘technical counterparts’, but Genoa would prefer straight cash, something Tottenham should be able to achieve.

In addition, Spurs are set to speak to Gudmundsson’s club in the coming weeks over a potential deal for Djed Spence, so there’s a chance they could speak about the Iceland star.

Lauded by Kevin Strootman as a ‘devastating’ winger, Gudmundsson could prove a solid addition for Tottenham this summer in wake of his 15 goals and four assists this season.

With Strootman also likening Gudmundsson to Mohamed Salah, it’s clear that the 26-year-old ace is a talented player with a high ceiling. Let’s see what happens in the coming months.
