Are there any good hip hop news sites anymore?
I used to frequent hiphopdx slot but these days the stories are terrible. Are there any good hip hop news sites out there?
hip hop journalism is god awful now if youre looking for well written critiques. across the board, from album reviews to just thoughts on rap. :(

If you're 15 year old, maybe.
With all due respect, isn't it kinda moronic to post a comment like this :=)?
I've never seen anyone use = as a nose before.
=:) ?
Possibly, but I do not care.
Just take a step back and look at this subreddit for a moment, then try and guess the average age of the regular posters.
You'll see I'm not too far from the truth.
Well, I am not contesting your argument just the manner and place :).
lol
It's a bit self-serving, and because we're small we don't nearly do enough, and we're focused on NY-area specifically...
But I run Birthplace Magazine. We are very much focused on journalistic integrity (no bullshit gossip, or articles based on a snippit of what Lord Jamar said), and a special place in our heart for indie/underground, with a kick-ass NY-area events calendar to boot.
I also have a weekly 'net radio show, The NY Hip Hop Report which is a live, call-in talk radio show, a la sports talk radio, that compliments the site pretty well.
I also have a bi-weekly show/podcast, The Manny Faces Show where I do long-form interviews with "creatives," sometime having some connection to hip hop, but sometimes not. It's Combat Jack-like, so if you like that, you might like this.
On the main mag site, I've often editorialized against the shitty state of hip hop journalism, and in fact, aimed critique directly at sites like GlobalGrind, and have an active petition in with the FCC against Emmis Communications/Hot 97.
Again, all self-serving, but I like to think we're doing good work, and would love to have your eyes/ears/feedback.
I appreciate your response and look forward to checking your site. Thanks again.
Vice's hip hop sister site, Noisey, is really on point, comprehensive, and well-written, and Pitchfork has really stepped up their rap coverage in recent years
Depends what you're looking for. If you're just looking for music reviews that aren't ever caught in the dick riding mist, Than The Needle Drop is where it's at (Twenty Hip Hop Head's eyes just rolled).
I'd really like to know if there is any rap journalism out there.
The needle drop is so overrated on this forum it's practically unwatchable.
The responses are appreciated, I guess I'm just sick of all the sites that talk about something shocking Tyler the Creator did or they try to tell you who is relevant. I guess I'm looking for more coverage of underground acts rather than mainstream.
