Damn Adam Sandler...
Come here, you need a hug.
I knew from seeing Funny People and (especially) Punch Drunk Love that despite being an annoying comedic actor Sandler was a great dramatic actor but...my God...
He's literally incredible here. I can guarantee the guy will bring you to tears here. HIs performance is everything from heartbreaking to heartwrenching to sympathetic to...dare I say...perfect. I can't imagine anyone else in the role. He is just...incredible.
I don't know if I should be surprised I said so many positive things about an Adam Sandler performance, disappointed because he doesn't turn in more of these, or check to see if Hell froze over...
the story of a man liberated from his wife and children, finally free to devote his life to gaming
Dear Adam Sandler haters,
please watch this.
Best regards,
someone who totally sees why one would dislike him, but also appreciates the 4 or 5 movies in which he really shows his talent.

Don Cheadle reading and talking about Captain America before the MCU even started is all I need tbh.

so i already knew about "adam sandler playing shadow of the colossus to get over the death of his wife and daughters in 9/11" but i had no idea this movie also includes a subplot where a woman really wants to suck don cheadle's dick and then brings a fabricated sexual harassment lawsuit against him when he declines, and a scene where sandler tries to commit suicide by cop!!! this is a movie that pretends to be about don cheadle reconnecting with his old roommate adam sandler in order to help sandler get over 9/11, but actually it is about how don cheadle is jealous of sandler and wants a 9/11 to happen to his own family so he can…
Very little about Sandler’s pre-2007 work would lead you to believe that a movie where he plays a man who lost his family on 9/11 would be anything other than a disaster.
Not only is Reign Over Me pretty good, Sandler himself is is the best part.
The film is a two-hander with Don Cheadle as a dentist with a troubled practice and a floundering marriage; Sandler’s Charlie was his old college roommate. A chance encounter on the streets of New York brings them back together. It’s a movie, of course, so this rekindled friendship is exactly what they both need at exactly the right moment.
Cheadle’s fine, but his half of the story falls a little flat; or maybe…
As a big Adam Sandler fan it always puts a smile on my face whenever I see him actually care and act in role. Whether it's good or bad, his dramatic roles will always be his best work. Even if his terrible comedies are his bread and butter
Mike Binder's "Reign Over Me" is a film about loss, friendship, and the pain of remembering set against a New York City still trying to heal from the scars left by the September 11 terrorist attacks. Featuring Adam Sandler in another strong dramatic role, the film offers sturdy drama, sharp emotions, and touches of levity. It is an wholly appealing film.
The plot revolves around a dentist, played be Don Cheadle, who has a chance meeting with his former college roommate, Sandler. Drifting back into one another's lives, the two rekindle their friendship while uncovering Sandler's character's deep pain. The narrative is melancholy and emotionally alive; its focus on its characters and their personal scars is engaging.

One of Adam Sandlers better movies, sad that he is only in boring Netflix comedies nowadays. Reign Over Me mixes the sad with the fun and become a great mix.
Adam Sandler who wins Razzie awards and is mostly bashed for his comedic work these days has one film he's good in for most people. That film is Paul Thomas Anderson's Punch-Drunk Love. Now I must agree that film is exceptional and definitely Sandler's best performance, but I think he's almost as good in this severely overlooked film.
Reign Over Me was mostly panned by critics so it took me awhile after it's release to get around to watching it. Once I finally saw it I couldn't believe how much I liked it and how strong Sandler's performance was. His characters situation is deeply moving and at times very sad. I found myself tearing up on more than one occasion…
Charlie Fineman: I don't need to talk about her or look at pictures. 'Cause the truth is, a lot of times, I see her, on the street. I walk down the street, I see her in someone else's face. Clearer than any of the pictures you carry with you.
I was honestly scared to watch one of those simplistic 9/11 related film, but Reign Over Me surprised me for the most part. It's got some issues in my opinion, but that won't stop you from actually enjoying it.
Let's go straight to the good parts. The Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle duo was nice. I've said it for Sandler's role in Uncut Gems and I'll say it again: comedians are…
