British diving star Tom Daley is officially back in business.
Two years since winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the 10m platform event, 29-year-old Daley made his return to the plunge pool at the British National Diving Cup on Thursday (14 December).
He clinched gold in the men's 10m synchro event alongside partner Noah Williams.
"It is nice to be back and get that adrenaline going again," Daley said to BBC Sport, describing what it was like to be competing again.
"It felt really weird to come back, I felt quite shy in a way to get back into it because I had been part of that team for so long, and then to step out and see how things had changed, it felt weird and different."
Daley's last competitive outing at Tokyo 2020 marked a significant chapter in the career of the diver.
Having made his Olympic debut at Beijing 2008 at age 14, the Briton had to wait until his fourth Games in Japan to become an Olympic champion, eventually winning with Matty Lee in the men's 10m synchro event.
Earlier this year, Daley shared his intention to compete at Paris 2024 after being inspired by his son, Robbie. If he makes it, it would be a record fifth Olympic Games appearance by a British diver.
