Tom Brady’s blowup on the sidelines with New England Patriots coach Bill O’Brien is still funny to think about to this day.

Whilst Tom Brady might have won all the accolades that there are to win and be going down as the greatest player in the sport, there are still some times when he shows that he is human likes us and has the same emotions that we do.

It’s fair to say that we have all had our angry moments in life, through whatever reason, be it through a fault of our own or something that somebody else has done, or perhaps a combination of the two. How you decide to vent that anger and frustration is up to you, but for the vast majority of us, we have the benefit of being able to do it in private.

That isn’t the case for a lot of athletes though who are constantly in the spotlight and more often than not whilst at work will have a camera pointed at them to capture them at their best or worst.

That was something that then-New England Patriots quarterback Brady and his offensive Bill O'Brien found out during a game against the Washington Redskins back in 2011.

What sparked it all off

Brady had just thrown an interception in the back of the endzone whilst trying to make a pass to receiver Tiquan Underwood, and as is usual at the end of a series, good or bad, the offensive players went back to the sidelines to discuss what happened on the drive.

However it seemed as though Brady and O’Brien had differing opinions over exactly what happened and the two of them went at it on the sidelines, with players and even head coach Bill Belichick having to get in the middle and intervene at one point to calm things down:

In the end the Patriots would win the game 34-27, so it didn’t end up costing them anything, but it still isn’t the best look to have, especially a franchise like the Patriots that brand themselves on being a well-oiled machine.

Brady admits he was wrong

Years later ahead of a match between Brady and O’Brien who was then the head coach of the Houston Texans, the quarterback opened up about exactly what happened that day, explaining that he was probably in the wrong in this situation:

"He kind of let me have it. I deserved it. It was kind of a dumb throw. I deserved it. I kind of chirped back, and he didn't like it. I was kind of fiery at the time, too. "We cooled off pretty quick. That's Billy's style. Billy's gonna let you know if he doesn't like something that you did. He handles it in the right way, in a way that you really respected.”

Whilst certainly not the most memorable moment in Brady’s illustrious career, it certainly is one that gets remembered a lot and when he’s retired he’ll probably look back on and laugh.
