Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman announced his retirement on Monday, and many players around the league offered their congratulations. One of them was former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Racking up 6,822 receiving yards and 77 touchdowns, Edelman had quite the career with New England. His best season came in 2019, when he recorded 100 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. Brady and Edelman formed a special connection on the field, and they quickly became one of the most explosive quarterback-slot receiver duos in the league.
Monday, Brady took to Instagram to offer his congratulations on a productive career.
As preparation for the 2021 season begins, New England will have to rely on a couple of new acquisitions to fill the void left by Edelman’s departure. Filling that void will certainly be challenging.
