Tom Alexander is a straight shooter and tells it like it is in this down to the basics of what Market Profile is all about. He takes away the massive amounts of useless information about market profile and shows you where exactly this way of looking at the market gives the trader an edge.

I've read every MP book available, here's a list of them.
1. Steidlmayer on Markets
2. Steidlmayer on Markets 2nd Edition
3. Markets and Market Logic
4. 141 West Jackson
5. Markets 101
6. Mind Over Markets
7. Value Based Power Trading
8. CBOT Market Profile Study Guide
9. Markets in Profile
10. Practical Trading Applications of Market Profile

I would "only" recommend this book if you can get it for $30.00 or less. It just rehashes the day types and adds a little with the "tick" indicator and a little bit of ATR ( Average True Range) thrown on top. Along with some other things that were not memorable. Don't waste your time or money with it like I did. Buy the only good books available on MP. The best is "Markets and Market Logic," if you think you need more than buy "Mind Over Markets".

As someone who has been in Tom's room it should be noted that the question was recently asked if his book was worth getting and the response was, "No, it is dated".

It is also twice the price of similar books on the subject of MP

This is the single most important book in my library. The ideas presented in this book utilize market profile as a tool and the important concept of auction market theoy to help understand the flow of the marktets so you can profit from them as a trader or active investor.

The genius behind this methodology is the information comes directly from the markets themselves and it is not hidden behind some oscillaor, indicator, or gimmick. Studying this methodology will help you understand the movements of the markets so you can make better trading decisions.

Tom spends some time defining the basic concepts of market profile, debunks some popular myths about market profile, but then takes a big step forward and shows how market profile can and should be used and brings it down to the real nuts and bolts level.

This is not simply a book that defines terminology associated with market profile and ends there (there are plenty of those). This is a book that introduces a very unique way of viewing the markets and give you the tools so you can start applying the concepts right away. This is not a magic bullet and understanding these ideas will take some time but if you are a serious student of the markets this book will be an extremely important addition to your library.

Statistically 95% folks who endeavor to trade will fail and do fail. I spend lot's of money learning best trading system and indicators just to lose more money i could afford. We are often told not to break the system, keep following it, let your emotions depart and trade unemotionally. Eventually your money departs you.

Read 100 books and you get same advise. Finally after burning lots of money and time eventually found Tom's work. Only statistically proven method to LEARN HOW TO TRADE.

If you are serious about being a trader, you should read this book. Tom is still waiting for someone for last 20 years for someone to prove this methodology wrong. Just like spending years in college to get the basics, you will need to spend few months getting the concepts. Your trading life will never be the same again.

Tom Alexander has found a way to teach simplicity in trading. This book helps you understand the fundamental basics of auction market theory in an easy to read easy to understand format. I would encourage anyone who is just starting out in trading or anyone who has already experienced trading to read this book and begin your journey into one of the most unique and simplified ways of viewing the market. Tom helps you learn how to determine value so you can take advantage of opportunities the market creates as it moves away from value.

Traders and active investors search high and wide for a perspective on the markets that gives them TRUE insight. All they really need is Tom's book. Once you understand the concepts Tom writes about, you have the binoculars you need to see, understand and most of all, correctly anticipate the human behavior behind all market moves. I honestly think I could give away every other trading methodology book I own and my library would be no less full of wisdom ... and my NY apartment would also gain some badly needed space - (hmmm, that's not a bad idea)!
