Albert Ray Cooper, 66, of Chattanooga, formerly of Knoxville and Birmingham, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011.Mr. Cooper was a faithful member of East Brainerd Church of Christ. He received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee and was a valued and respected employee with Combustion Engineering/Alston Power for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Evelyn Cooper; brothers, Phillip "Mac" Cooper and Ron G. Cooper; a sister, Virginia Lee Cooper; nephew, Phillip Ray Cooper and wife, Glenda Hulgan Cooper.He is survived by his daughter and loving caregiver, June Cooper Cottrell and husband, Chad; son, Joshua Ray Cooper and wife, Lana; two grandchildren, Savannah and Nash Cooper; two sisters-in-law, Jeanie Cooper and Dianne Cooper; nephew, Ron Cooper; two nieces, Mary Cooper Joy and LeAnne Cooper Morris; and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel.Funeral services for Mr. Cooper will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel with Minister Dave Mellor, Dr. Tom Drinnen and Minister Keith Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
