About the Author

Kevin Eastman - Born in 1962 in Portland, Maine, Kevin began drawing as soon as he was able to hold a crayon. His discovery of comic books gave meaning to his crazed doodling. When Kevin discovered and studied the work of Jack Kirby, Russ Heath, Richard Corben, Vaughn Bode and John Severin, he began to hone his craft. His first published work appeared in 1980, a year or so before he met Peter Laird. In May 1984, he and Laird published Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, creating the hit heroes in a half-shell. Eastman co-writes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for IDW and can sometimes be found at the San Diego Comic Art Gallery.

Peter Laird is an American comic book writer and artist. He is best known for co-creating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with writer and artist Kevin Eastman.

Kevin Brooks Eastman (born May 30, 1962) is an American comic book artist and writer, best known as the co-creator alongside Peter Laird of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Eastman is also the editor and publisher of the magazine Heavy Metal.

Wait! You've read volume 4 of the Ultimate collection, right?? Great. Well then, this book along with volume four show's off how thoughtful, fun, and dramatic the Teenage Mutant Turtle's comic's can be. The last collaboration between the co-creator's of the turtle's for quite a long time, you can practically feel the year's of burden weighing down on the creator's and thus onto the fictional mutant turtle's as well, by the time you near the end. This is a beautiful story in that it ask's some meaningful question's of the character's. You may find yourself relating to a few of them in their quest's to find purpose for their live's. Take note that the book is in black and white, but with help from Jim Lawson on pencil's, this book takes on a very beautiful and surreal look. Very dreamlike, without skimping on intense action. Definitely pick this book up if your interest is piqued.

What I like about these books is that they are several of the books compiled into one, they're hard cover and they are still in black and white. I still have the original Mirage (the original original) comics, so I'm comparing these to those. However, I am mostly interested in just the stories, and not the collectibility of each book, so I'm wanting to consolidate the stories into one book. These books are perfect for that, and what's more, it's like they come with a director's commentary, having both Eastman's and Laird's comments for each page.
