Timothy Spall weight loss: Mrs Lowry actor breaks silence ‘I’m no longer that round bloke’
TIMOTHY SPALL shocked fans when he first revealed his staggering weight loss and now the Mrs Lowry & Son actor has spoken out about how he is no longer “hobbled” when it comes to roles.

Timothy Spall first debuted his streamlined appearance two years ago and his since attributed the change to simply cutting down on food and alcohol since 2014. The Auf Wiedersehen, Pet star has now addressed how his life has taken a different direction in terms of the roles he can play after shedding the pounds. The 62-year-old said he is “not hobbled” as an actor anymore or that “avuncular round bloke”. Speaking to the latest issue of Radio Times, he commented on his weight loss as well as life after fighting leukaemia.

Timothy is currently promoting Adrian Noble’s new biographical film, Mrs Lowry & Son, based on Martyn Hesford’s adaptation of his own BBC Radio 4 play.
He commented: “I wanted to change my lifestyle and lose weight and it’s done what I’d always hoped it might.
“As a character actor, it’s put me in a position where I’m not hobbled by being a certain shape.”
He continued to the publication: “I’m no longer that avuncular round bloke. It does feel liberating on many levels.”
He his recently popped up in Stephen Poliakoff’s Summer of Rockets for the BBC, playing Lord Wallington, as well as in the ITV’s drama of the Hatton Garden raid.
Meanwhile, the father-of-three went on to discuss peoples reactions now, two decades on from the a leukaemia diagnosis.

Timothy said the health ordeal left him with a new perspective on life, after preparing his family for the worst.
“When you’re seriously ill, it gives you a certain sense of profundity,” he stated.
He then said: “All the day-to-day inconveniences and annoyances count for nothing when you might not make it through.
“When you come out the other side, however, you realise that all those little daily aggravations are actually the texture of life, so you need to make the most of them.”
Timothy added: “Even when it’s people continually asking me, ‘Are you all right now?’ Which I am, of course.”
Mrs Lowry & Son follows the Lancashire-born artist, who died back in 1976.
It delves into his relationship with his mother, who attempts to dissuade him from pursuing his passion.
During the shoot, Timothy said he did about 50 paintings as he filmed alongside Vanessa Redgrave.
Meanwhile, it comes after Timothy Spall starred in Electric Dreams: The Commuter on Channel 4 looking very different.
