As the son of Odin (Anthony Hopkins), king of the Norse gods, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will soon inherit the throne of Asgard from his aging father. However, on the day that he is to be crowned, Thor reacts with brutality when the gods' enemies, the Frost Giants, enter the palace in violation of their treaty. Beautiful visuals of early Asgard. Chris Hemsworth IS Thor. Nobody else could have played this role. As for Natalie Portman... stellar job. She blended into the role of Jane Foster quite well. This sci-fi Marvel film as a continuation of prior works is wonderful. A must-watch for everyone.

Good action movie but they got the mythology wrong. Laufey is the MOTHER of Loki. Farbauti is the father of Loki and king of Jothenheim. Nevertheless it is worth watching.
