Latin jazz band to appear at Oxford venue

The American band Pink Martini is about to embark on a UK tour, and is due to play in Oxford at the beginning of May.

They hail from Portland, Oregon, forming in 1994 as a 12-piece outfit, under the leadership of pianist Thomas Lauderdale. Vocalist China Forbes subsequently joined, adding her voice to their developing sound.

The band's 1997 debut album 'Sympathique' proved to be both a commercial and a critical success.

Since then, they have constantly tested music's boundaries, with classical and pop influences, distinctive melodies and innovative arrangements. Pink Martini, up to the present, has sold an impressive three million plus LPs worldwide, as well as performing in 70 countries.

Their album 'Hotel Amour' was released in 2019. It features such notable guests as The von Trapps, Rufus Wainwright and the late Barry Humphries. This celebration of musical diversity received considerable acclaim from critics.

The band's latest single, called 'The Lemonade Song', realised more than eight million Spotify streams. They are presently working on another album in the studio, which is due for release sometime in 2024.

Ticket prices from £42.30, inclusive of a transaction fee. Stationery printers can provide a useful service to those engaged in making preparations for a future concert or musical event.

Pink Martini's show has a start time of 7.30pm on Thursday, 2 May at New Theatre, Oxford.
