What travellers are saying
- Neil BAuckland, New Zealand1 170 contributionsWe’re from New Zealand but knew the Lewis & Clark names courtesy of the movie ‘Night at the Museum’. For people like us who are relatively new to the L&C story, this place provided a really good overview of the 19th century expedition, its central characters, purpose and achievements. A nice mix of animatronics, story boards, displays and some hands on activities. Good clean restrooms. Plenty of parking. Right on the river-front park, so also good for walking or cycling.Written 12 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tamSpringfield, MO1 contributionWow! This was such an unexpected beautiful and peaceful stop. We stopped in the evening about 7. I thought we would be there for 15 minutes, but there was so much to see that we stayed 2 hours.
Yes, I’ve read and taught the Mysteries and Stations many times and probably didn’t need to stop and read everything, but it was serene and we found ourselves saying the prayers together.Written 7 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's an excellent way to learn about the history of Sioux City and we were surprised by how many comparisons there were to Chicago (our hometown). We had planned on maybe spending a bit of time here and wound up staying much longer than expected because we were enjoying our visit so much. Definitely watch the intro film - it's well done and really interesting!Written 13 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MarciaEHuntsville, AL132 contributionsFree museum. Currently the museum on the 2nd floor is closed so there is not much to see. Worth a quick look if you are in the area.Written 20 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- F4981JCmichaelsVancouver, WA2 104 contributionsIn Sioux City, Iowa, along the Missouri river, is a memorial to the only person who died during the Lewis and Clark Expedition. it takes only minutes to see the obelisk, to look out over the river, and to see downtown Sioux City in the distance. It's a nice change of pace. Nearby in downtown Sioux City are two beautiful murals on the side of some buildings along Seventh Street by Wesley Parkway.Written 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NaberiusWest Des Moines, IA160 contributionsThis is a nice art museum with plenty of interesting art to see. The current exhibits were very well done, but we found the display with Grant Woods' Corn Mural to be unexpected. You'd think "Corn Mural, huh? Sounds a little weird." But it's actually pretty cool, especially when you read the museum's explanation about it, how it was created and then rediscovered. This is not a large museum, but the space is nicely walkable and they had a nice collection.Written 13 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Beverly DMorris Plains, NJ247 contributionsAbout 20 minutes north of Sioux City is the location of this park at the northern end of the Loess Hills Scenic Parkway. These tall grasslands only exist here, in eastern Nebraska, and in China' The 3 mile driving loop has several overlooks that are worth investigating, including Elk Point, Dakota Point and Big Squaw River Valley.Written 2 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Terresa G2 contributionsThey have a fabulous railway holocaust exhibit. There are a lot of different types of trains most of which you can walk through. They also have different buildings that you can go true there is a lot of history here. It was very enjoyable and takes about an hour and a 1/2.. There is also a gift shop.Written 24 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Texas GirlPapillion, NE109 contributionsBeautiful theater! I felt like I had walked back in time to an era of wealth and privilege. Walls and ceilings were stunning. The venue was smaller than I am used to and it was perfect!! Sound quality was incredible. (Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser acoustic concert was outstanding!!). I am so glad we made the trip to Sioux City for this experience!!Written 16 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joy Y3 contributionsThis is an amazing building! We loved the art deco architecture inside and out. They also have a nice brochure describing it. You have to go through security to enter the building, but it is worth it.The officers are very informative.Written 17 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tonya BFaribault 5 contributionsThis place was spectacular! We took our kids and grandkids for the weekend. It was my first "children's museum" other than the Twin Cities science museum. Everyone had a great time. Since then I've been to two other children's museum and this one is, hands down, the best one in the way it is laid out, the space, and the activities offered. Our three year old granddaughter still asks to go back here! Pretty good core memory. She loved the beeping cash register at the grocery store and the ice cream shop. She also liked putting grandma in jail for eating too many lollipops and also the great escape (through the tunnel)! We'll be back again next year! The chocolate shop and toy store in town was an added bonus. We made some great purchases. And it's close enough to Cherokee Iowa that the parents (son-in-law is a former bull rider) got to enjoy the rodeo on the way down. Win, win for everyone!Written 29 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Idaho CBoise, ID7 contributionsGreat place to learn a bit more about early and war time airplanes. Plus a display and memorial to the victims of flight 232 crash of 1989.
