Cute little town along the Hudson. We enjoyed the river cruise and lunch in town. Needs more shopping, but I'm sure it will get there.

The Den of Marbletown, which I call the Teddy Bear Museum, is a delightful little museum filled with an extensive Steiff collection of bears and animals as well as a terrific shop to buy from. The owner has all things Steiff in the Museum. There is even a little cafe to buy drinks and a garden path to explore to a pond outside.

This is a great museum for those restless children who want to be surrounding by the best in playthings and for parents who are looking for the inner child. The owner and his mother in law have an very extensive and detailed collection of Steiff Bears, Animals and Collectables that must make up a huge portion of the company's collection. The Bear collection alone has many rare bears that were made in limited numbers as well as all sorts of themed collections that the company produced.

There is even a Mama Bear lounge for parents to relax while the kids get to play in their own play area on the second floor. In the future, there will also be a cafe with a lunch menu on the first floor. Outside there is an extensive lawn with cut outs for the children to explore and a garden path down to a pond area.

Wonderful and fascinating boat ride and lighthouse tour. The lovely and short boat ride was on a solar powdered boat. Visiting the lighthouse was incredible.

Forsyth Park Nature Center and Animal Sanctuary is another local gem in Ulster County, upstate NY! Although, I am from the area I return here often several times a year during the appropriate seasons (weather permitting)! I stopped by earlier in the day with my significant other, we were blessed to see the peacocks fanning in full dance display! Informative educational postings are listed near each resident of Forsyth Park, letting visitors know a background synopsis of each creature including what foods they eat just in case you'd like to feed them in a safe manner (depending on species)! I personally recommend this park to any and all interested as well as encourage others who have previously been here to return or revisit! Overall, Forsyth Park Nature Center and Animal Sanctuary is an enjoyable and interactive place to spend an hour or two in the afternoon.

What I like about this museum is that it is so welcoming to fellow fire fighters. The guys that man the museum are retired Kingston NY fire fighters and have a lot of good stories to tell.

They have all sorts of interesting equipment including vintage trucks and show pieces that were used at the turn of the last century. Upstairs there is a complete office and a living quarters with a fireplace that was decorated for Christmas.

During the open house they had for the Kingston Snowflake Festival, the whole place was decorated for Christmas. It was an interesting tour.

The Senate House is a must when visiting Kingston, NY. It gives you the history of the CIty of Kingston, how the area played a role in the Revolutionary War, Kingston's role as a trading post and an early capital of New York State. It also talks of the evolution of the area as a farming community and its growth as a prominent city.

The Senate House itself is finally open after almost a four year renovation. You got to see how the period rooms were furnished and how the early Dutch lived. It is not one of the fancier houses but gives a realistic view of the day to day lives of the people that lived here.

The museum is a must when you are visiting Kingston and want a view of life in the early Dutch settlement before the war.

I went for a Fiddlers Concert during the Kingston Snowflake Festival and it was a very nice concert. The groups did a nice job though it could have been a bit more Christmasy in their song selection.

The church was beautifully decorated for the holidays with white lights all over the trees and inside and wreaths and holy everywhere. The Church had a very Christmassy look to it. The outside lights gave it that extra added touch to make it look picturesque.

I visited the Fredrick J, Johnson Museum and the Friends of Kingston Gallery over the last weekend and it was a very interesting tour. The Friends Gallery had an exhibition entitled "Still Standing", which was of all the buildings that the Friends have saved in Kingston. This has lead to the character of Kingston not changing and saving the fate of these buildings. Most have since been sold and are in private hands now.

The Fredrick J. Johnson House was really a testament of love by the Friends organization in that the house is so well decorated and well maintained by the group. They have taken the antiques and furnishings left by the Johnson family and kept the house the way it was when the last relative died. The rooms are beautifully decorated with antique furnishings and each room whether it be the bedroom or the dining room were exquisitely decorated and had such charm to them. If you like older homes and period pieces, this house tour is for you.

Make sure to tour the gardens as well when it is in season. They are so nice to walk around and are well maintained.

I highly recommend going here to anyone who enjoys animals but definitely for those with little kids. There is a very cool park in the same area and families could certainly spend a day here between the two. You can feed the animals and touch some of them. There are picnic tables. Very nice. Not huge but just enough for little ones.

A walk through this building is a walk back in time. The staff who greeted us were enthusiastic and knowledgable about the history of the house and it's periodic restoration. There are fastinating artifacts and literature helping us understand life in the 1600's.

I went to the Trolley Museum of New York and it is such an interesting museum if you and your family like an interactive experience. You can climb through buses, subway cars and trains on the outside of the museum and inside you can take a trip through a simulated experience in the New York subway system.

If you are bringing young children, they will have a lot of fun running through the cars and exploring the subway system. The inside of the museum has more displays on the industry.

On a nice day though the best thing to do is take the trolley ride up to Kings Point Park. It is so nice to take this ride as the foliage changes. In the summer, you can see all the trees in full bloom and see the sites in the distance. The park is really pretty in the fall,

I highly recommend the museum to people with active young children.
