- iluv2eatntravelSan Diego, CA1,873 contributionsQuiet but clean family park that overlooks the Pacific Ocean located in the Bird Rock neighborhood. The beautiful view of the ocean is soothing. Majority of beach below seem to be filled with small rocks and when the ocean waves flows over them, it creates a very soothing therapeutic sound. There are benches on the park where you can enjoy the view and sound.
As another fellow traveler has warned, the bluffs can be unstable so pls try not to get to close to the edge as it looks like a 20-30+ feet drop to the bottom.Written August 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wear close-toe shoes with GRIP or you're going to slip and fall down. I definitely don't recommend this to kids or anyone who isn't an avid hiker. There's an upper and lower path but they're both sketchy at some point.
It's exceptionally busy in the summer and not enough room for more than one person to pass at a time. People can be rude and that leads to others falling.
I watched a girl slip and luckily there were enough people to grab her before she fell.Written November 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If nothing else, sit down by the park's fountain and enjoy the afternoon. Of notable mention are adjacent activities -- Saturday morning Farmer's Market, the Penn Theater ($3.00 films!) and the many restaurants that border the park.
For an update on what's going on in the park, check a local website for a schedule of events.

Grassy areas for kids to run and play; picnic tables for lunch or snacks; basketball courts (check out a basketball or bring your own); and two levels of playgrounds, one for smaller sweeties and one for older kids. There are swings and tetherball, foosball and four square.
Something for everyone.
Tennis courts are next door but even if you don’t have a partner, you can practice on the rec center’s backboards.
There are also organized classes such as yoga and dance in the rec center building. Exercise equipment is inside as well.
Parking is on the street.

- Vince BAsheville, NC47 contributionsI guess Mr Simic lost his butt several years ago in Carmel Ca. He had beautiful pieces of Art, hell I spent over 100k with the gallery. How unfortunate. It’s gone! Kinda makes me mad, but it is what it is. My X has the good pieces and I have several that I will be selling. All European Artist. I just don’t really want memories of my X, so the Art has to go. I did enjoy the Gallery with Judith & Russel. It probably was a sale with them, but it actually meant something to the both of us.Written May 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hummummerLa Jolla, CA37 contributionsWent on the wonderful FREE Murals of La Jolla tour through the Athenaeum. The guide was Lynda Forsha, the Executive Director of the project, so she had a wealth of information. Not only did we see wonderful works of art, but we also learned all the steps from how a wall is found/"acquired", to the picking of an artist, how an artist comes up with their work, the installation and its lifespan. I highly recommend this tour and am looking forward to maybe taking a class or two at the Athenaeum as well.Written April 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Madeline L2 contributionsI highly recommend taking a cooking class with Bibi. My 2 hour private class surpassed my expectations!
I was visiting SD for a while and found Harvard Cookin' Girl on Google. I called Bibi up and shared that I was looking to learn knife skills. She had me choose what I’d like to cook. I went with French theme - salad nicoise and apple tatin.
You’re greeted by her warm smile and enter her beautiful house - and you’re completely transformed to a dream.
She had all the knives laid out and explained the pertinence of ‘mis en place’. She even recommended the must-have knives and where to get them without breaking the bank. She customizes the class on the fly depending on your skillset and wants. She went at the perfect pace, letting me give it a go while telling stories of the dishes and alternative options. She even made me an espresso with our apple tatin creation. I left feeling confident in making the two dishes on my own and extremely grateful to have met such a special soul.Written April 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Doug Arrington1 contributionMy wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Greg Lawson's beautiful gallery in La Jolla last week and enjoyed talking with him about photography in general and his work in particular. The work, enlarged imaged taken all over the world in various camera formats including 4X5, is breathtaking! Subject, composition, lighting, exposure are spot on! If you follow him, or better yet, get the opportunity to visit one of his galleries, you'll be in for a rare treat. Add to that his warm, friendly disposition and all your senses will be rewarded! His image of the Taj Mahal was taken in the early morning while hand holding a 4X5 field camera (tripods weren't allowed), and it's spectacular. As is an image he titled Armageddon showing an incredible cloud formation. In fact, I was mesmerized by every displayed image which, given my critical photographer's eye, is quite unusual! I certainly look forward to visiting again whenever we're in the area!Written November 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peg LPlymouth, MI220 contributionsWe were treated to an outstanding team building evening of cooking delight. Chef Jodi and Dani guided us through all the stages of food prep and cooking and the team kept it fun throughout the night. Recipes were easy to follow and having the privilege to cook in such a beautiful kitchen, was a treat in and of itself!
