Additional Department Summary: The College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Alabama seeks applications for the Dean’s Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in Physics and Astronomy. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees in Physics and Astronomy and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the Department. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Applications are encouraged from excellent candidates with research interests in any area of expertise of the department. Joint appointments across departments are possible. The minimum requirement at the time of the appointment is a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a field of research represented within the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity. The department will develop mentoring plans detailing benchmarks for possible transition of Postdoctoral Research Associates into tenure-track professorship positions. A prior conviction reported as a result of the background investigation DOES NOT automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position. A candidate with a prior conviction or negative behavioral red flags will receive an individualized review of the prior conviction or negative behavioral red flags before a hiring decision is made.

Equal Employment Opportunity: The University of Alabama is an Equal Employment/Equal Educational Opportunity Institution.
