The series looks at Henry's famous female companions like Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn and delves into his relationships with important figures like Sir Thomas More, Cardinal Wolsey (head of the Catholic Church of England during its break with Rome) and Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, who was Henry's best friend and unofficial adviser. Empire Staff Empire Magazine Early episodes feel heavily signposted, but things gradually improve and it displays a strength for detail. Rated: 3/5 Dec 15, 2018 Full Review Ed Bark Uncle Barky A soap with nutrients, a saga with plenty of ga-ga. Coherent and compelling while also complex, it deserves a much wider audience than Showtime generally attracts. Rated: A Dec 15, 2018 Full Review Kate Taylor Globe and Mail The series has got oodles more Henrician history to go, including four wives after Anne, although its youthful image of Henry may run out of chronological verisimilitude and dramatic interest long before that. Dec 15, 2018 Full Review Sierra Filucci Common Sense Media Altogether the series is good enough and may eventually develop into something more than the sum of its parts, but viewers might not feel as passionately about The Tudors as its characters do about sex, violence, and politics. Rated: 3/5 Dec 17, 2018 Full Review Tom Gliatto People Magazine Natalie Dormer has a flinty flirtiness as Ms. Boleyn. And the costumes are to lose your head for. Dec 15, 2018 Full Review Emily S. Mendel culturevulture.net Strong acting, gorgeous sets, beautiful costumes and the fascinating historical period combine to make the series come alive. Dec 15, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

NEMXA R Great story telling its not word for word from a book but great show. The actors r fantastic and u forget they aren't that person. Costumes are amazing I need a dress from this show damit. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review steve d Fantastic show. Amazing acting, costumes and sets. Hard to find good entertainment theses days without modern political talking points and agendas constantly pushed in your face so i find myself watching a show from 2007ish and the whole series is great. The guy that plays Henry VIII is top notch. There's some cheesy parts but over all i loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This was such a guilty pleasure of mine. Great cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The highest class of drama. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member One sentence: The historical inaccuracies in this series burn my eyes!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Funny to watch Catholics and Protestants burning each other alive over their different interpretations of a 1st century pacifist jew. Then someone gets sick and they're like 'let's bleed them' and you just have to chuckle. I thought Jonathan Meyers did a good job with the character, but it would have been cooler if he was less physical gorgeous and had to rely more on his wit, charm, and absolute power for sexual conquest. Idk, people said Henry VII was good looking. Natalie Dormer is way hotter than her portraits too. Were people uglier back then or did they just not paint very well?
