A full concert from 1981 by the looks of things (I noticed White Punks On Dope isn't listed but I have no idea if that was originally part of the concert. It's omission just looks weird to me though - like a KISS show without "Rock 'n' Roll All Nite" at the end, haha!). I'm looking forward to it - a live Tubes DVD from their early years is long overdue and if they can dig some live footage out from the 1970's for a future release, I'll be even more pleased.

Excellent group to see live and their "What do you want from life" live album is a classic! This will be worth checking out.

Hard not to notice that omission.

YAYYYYY! The Tubes are forever in my top 5 groups. They're my 'pet band'.
This show is pretty good. It's not a standard Completion Backwards Principle production but it's still a cracker and it'll be a treat to get it in broadcast quality at last. There's no WPOD or any Quay Lewd stuff at all but they do perform Don't Slow Down from the unreleased Suffer for Sound album so that's a bonus.
Now I just wish we could get The Tubes Movie released and/or some more vintage shows but this is a start.

Another note. The post 1978 tours were a lot less about big production numbers so don't expect any fire-eaters on roller-skates or stilt-walking gorillas, it's more straight than that with just a few production numbers which are limited to the band and the 3 Tubes dancers. The show's filmed in a TV studio in front of a small audience and, although very enjoyable, isn't on the scale of the 78 shows and before.

I love early Tubes, so I only know like 3 songs in that set list. Saw them frequently '75 - '77.

Whatever happened to "The Tubes Project" Mike Cotten was working on? If he'd set up a Kickstarter, I'm sure he'd get plenty of folk to help fund it.

The problem, as I understand it, is that Mike has had the movie finished for a couple of years now but the cost of licensing the music (their own music) is proving prohibitive. I hope they get something sorted out though as I'm gagging to see it.

Kickstarter would be a good route.

Ahhh that's a shame. I have no idea how much that would cost to licence all of the music needed for the film, but if the Frank Zappa documentary could raise just over $1 million, then maybe The Tubes Project could raise some funds to help cover it via kickstarter.

Cool release, looking forward to it. I've got a VHS of 'Live at the Greek" from the Remote Control era. Would be great to get that on DVD someday.

True, they had to sell off the publishing on their A&M years back to A&M records to finance tours and pay off at least some of their debt to the label.
