The Sketch Artist 1992
This average TV murder flick is well done, well-acted, and directed by Phedon Papamichael. Papamichael got an Oscar nom for cinematography. He is less renowned as a director but here he did just fine. The actors made the film for me. Sean Young perfectly plays a woman whose marriage has lost any reason to keep the corpse of love stumbling along. Jeff Fahey, an actor with as astonishing 167 credits in film and TV, plays the title role. He is a police sketch artist. He seems lost and dim and with little power of personality. That must be hard as an accomplished actor with loads of personality to pull off. And we get to see how Drew Barrymore looked in 1992, which is cool.
In the story, the sketch artist, Fahey, interviews a witness, Barrymore, and draws the face of a woman who might be the killer. The face is that of Fahey's wife, Sean Young. Awkward that. The rest of the movie has the somewhat dim sketch artist trying to solve a murder mystery and to save his marriage at the same time.
I enjoyed the acting and seeing the period things that we don't have anymore. Like, payphones, those photo both things that were in every mall parking lot for a while, and everyone smoking.
I wanted to like it more than I did but it is only average. Fans of Sean Young or Drew Barrymore will want to see it but there isn't a lot here for other viewers.

I really liked the movie.

Jeff Fahey as Jack the sketch artist rocks a cool cat part. When a fashion designer is murdered and the one witness gives Jack an eye witness picture of his own wife, things get tricky! Real tricky. Jack is obviously a free spirit in love with a wife who has checked out of the marriage long ago. He makes one self-centered decision after another breaking police protocol and a few laws along the way in an effort to find the truth before his wife is implicated in a murder. The music drives scene after scene as the viewer witnesses a story unfolding with several sex scenes and plenty of nudity. Also the typical verbal assault on God and Jesus with a few Shi. curse words to round up Hollyweirds version of dark characterization. Sean Young needs a good bra and a clothing designer. If the viewer likes Jeff Fahey they will love his gritty portrayal of a desperate husband and a burned out human. They will be thankful there is a sketch artist 2. However it is much more scary. This dark drama leaves the ending a little sketchy but overall, it's a mystery! Enjoy! :)

Good thriller

Coming from a US supplier; I was worried that the DVD would not work on DVD players in Europe as was the case before. However, the DVD worked perfectly and is a good thriller too. Many thanks.
