The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash! is a dark ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. It is located in the Upper Lot.[1]

Plot[]

Guests will assume the role of stray puppies and travel through bustling New York City streets in search of a forever home. Along the way, riders will encounter major characters from The Secret Life of Pets films.[1]

Production[]

The conception of a Secret Life of Pets attraction began before completion of the first film.[2] Originally the attraction was to be a trackless dark ride focusing on the search for a missing pet. It would have been placed Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida, but development on the Florida version was postponed. Hollywood's version, meanwhile, was reworked to have a track, and it's story was revised.[3]

In July 2018, construction of The Secret Life of Pets dark ride began in the Upper Lot, replacing the Globe Theater.[4] On April 10, 2019, Universal Studios Hollywood officially confirmed the ride's existence and title.

The Attraction was set to open on March 27, 2020, However due to COVID-19, Universal Studios Hollywood temporary throughout 2020. The attraction officially opened on April 16, 2021, as part of the parks reopening.
