A Historical Monument Worth Going To..
I didn't expect much of anything going to the Ruins for the first time, I mean, well because really on paper all it is, is a burnt down mansion. Brace yourself for this next part. On the way to The Ruins was the most stunning and picturesque views of the province, the farms of sugar cane stretched for miles and before even arriving it feels like you are being transported into past filled with heritage and culture. Upon arriving I immediately noticed how pristine and well taken care of the grounds were, it didn't seem like a blade of grass was out of place. The allure of "eternal love" started to reminisce on my skin, and I felt tingles across my body. Once you veer about the sheer size and magnificence of the structure, you are breath taken. Then seeing the finer details that are on every crevasse and inch of the structure, you'll begin to see the historical elements that really cause you to begin to appreciate the beauty of the mansion. It was a surreal experience. In the day time-it's one thing. Visiting the Ruins at night is an entirely different experience, that's when it becomes a dream of a sight and place to be.

    Mars, the guide
It's much more than the husk of an old house or an Instagrammable background. There are stories worth listening to and lives worth imagining. Spend your time learning about Bacolod rather than taking the standard photos. Ask Mars questions and hope he answers with more than a joke.

    Sight-seeing.
Went to see this place because of a TV series. Was not disppointed. We visited late afternoon to early evening and the place was lit. It was beautiful. Had also the chance to listen to its history because of the heritage tour guide who did the story-telling in a unique way. Definitely, it was not a bore. There was also a coffee shop/restaurant inside.

The ruin itself is beautiful especially at night but other than that, there's nothing else to see and do in the area. Maybe eat and dine but the price is quite steep so better to find other restaurants in Bacolod. The entrance fee costs 100PhP which I think is overpriced. Going to the Ruins would also cost 50Php per person in a tricycle (from North Ceres Terminal). I had this bad experience with tricycle drivers when I went to the terminal and asked for the fare. They told me that I had to pay 150 PhP because I am alone. I had to haggle with them to give me at least 100 but they refused and even told me that if i will ride a taxi or Grab, the fare will be the same. I was actually willing to pay for the 150PhP only if it was necessary and considering that the journey only takes 3-4 minutes. They were clearly taking advantage of the tourists. I then left the terminal and tried my chance with Grab. I booked Grab and it only costed me 114PhP. The same thing happened when I was coming back to Bacolod, the tricycle driver offered me 100PhP. A staff from the Ruins heard it and they talked in their dialect. She told me that there's a shuttle service (van) inside the compound. I was lucky to book the last trip at 7pm for 50 PhP per person which is already a reasonable price. There was also no clear instructions inside the premises. I had to ask several staff before I could locate the one responsible for the shuttle. Guided tours are also available but there's no timings. Once you have paid the entrance, you are on your own.

Of course the visit to The Ruins is a must when in Bacolod! It' s really nice to visit on a late afternoon to see the place when it is still bright and when it is already dark and lighted.
We were lucky that the place was not that crowded but we still need to wait to get a good picture of the building without many people in the background.
There is a cafe by the garden and stands that sell ice cream and sugarcane juice. The latter is really good with lemon (or was it calamansi?). There is also a souvenir shop.
We tooked a taxi going there and took the service van to a mall for fee. Quite convenient.

Great place for a Wedding/Bride-Groom Photoshoots!
I like the very entertaining guide who told us the story of the Mansion. Our walk on the grass, while taking pictures of the Ruins, accompanied to the Tunes of a excellent Pianist, playing in the background at the cafe! A real asset to your establishment.
Thank you. That was fun!

Through my hotel, I hired a taxi driver to take me there and drive me back after my visit.

At 8:00 a.m, there were already several visitors taking pictures of the ruins and the fountain as well. I had to patiently wait for my turn,

There is a small Gift Shop here. Clean toilets are available.Entrance ranged from 70-100 pesos per person.

First timers to Bacolod should not skip a visit to The Ruins.
On this trip , we actually had to go there twice as the first time we attempted to visit, it was closed for a function.
We finally made it on our last afternoon and our overseas guests enjoyed listening to the guide telling us the history of the place as well as showing us the best spots to take pictures. He even knew how to take “trick” shots which came out very nicely.
There’s an extensive garden now which wasn’t there on my last visit. Perfect for events like weddings or birthday parties.
Nice way to spend the afternoon!

Bacolod is one of dullest cities I’ve ever visited. There is literally nothing to do or see. So inevitably you end up here. It was once a magnificent building, now it’s a shell. The entry fee is 120 pesos, hardly worth that and certainly not worth paying for an expensive tour.

The place has a story to tell and should include into your bucket. The location is far from the main city and has limited public transportation. There are 2 restaurants inside which have a decent menu. Great for friends and family who prefer peaceful and quiet experience.
