Roger Waters – The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking

Well i have wanted this copy since 1984,i saw this tour in Toronto with Clapton and have been a fan since then.
on to this pressing, there has been a debate as to the sound of the cd vs vinyl on this for decades, now there is a japan copy of this that i had years ago that i thought compared to the cd version as this was mastered digital, now you might say that if this master sound pressing is a digital source then what could listening to it on an analog tube audiophile system bring to the table, and as i have just received a mint copy and only listened to side 1 i can say A LOT!!!, there is a warmer feel to this pressing, Davids sax is floating in the air, it just hangs there, rogers voice or voices come from like another room, Andys drumming is full, and Claptons acoustic guitar is aromatic, now I've heard this album many many times since 1984 and this is hands down the one to get if you want to drift off in the dream state with Roger on this incredible dream adventure.

How's the quality of the press on this? I see it's a Pitman Pressing which is the same as my Final Cut which is stunning.

I don't see anywhere a mention of the tour programme, but there are two sellers (as of this writing) that are selling this UK pressing with that included. Seems to match one of the matrix variants here, so does that mean it should be a note included here? Or added as its own variant? Since I own a version with the programme, I'll owe ahead and list a separate entry for that, and let the mods at it, and merge back here if needed.

I do not own a version without the programme, so I have no way of comparing how different the two are (as an example, whether the version without the programme has a spine that is not as wide since it would not need to accommodate the programme).

Sounds pretty great for an 80’s pressing. But man, does it need a cleaning! Sometimes the pops and clicks are louder than Roger’s angry whispers.

The only solo Roger Waters album I actually care about. Would have made an excellent 2LP follow up after "The Wall"- when coupled with Pink Floyds "Final Cut". The songs and their - very dynamic and excellent - mastering even sound like they were produced in the same studio and with the same sound scape in mind. When I am in the mood for the last really great Pink Floyd album (Final Cut) I always play "Hitchhiking" afterwards. Yet I am wondering what was going on with the cover designer during that time in 84. This softcore LP-coverart not only seems quite sexist, it's actually ugly and cringeworthy. In a list of the tmost awful album covers of all time, this would find its place in my personal top 5. Without looking at the cover, you have a set of really strong songs though. Along with the David Gilmour debut my most played "solo" PF-output.

Actually this is one of my favorite albums. Not only is the concept interesting...the sound effects cinematic...the songs catchy and the recording quality waaaaayyy better than 90% of the other bands around at the time...aka it doesnt sound processed or electronic. Plus...Eric Clapton playing like a maniac thru the entire album. If you are looking for the Wall...then look away...look more toward The Final Cut..another of my favorite albums...thats what you get. Add Radio Kaos and Amused to Death and you have probably the best set of audio cinema ever. Basically If you are looking for hit singles....catchy tunes...good time rock n roll...look away...cause your about to be enlightened.
