At The President Hotel, guests often celebrate the inviting atmosphere, enhanced by elegant decor and captivating views, along with a lively bar scene. While the hotel's cleanliness and service receive applause for tidiness and attentive staff, some visitors note occasional lapses in organization and pool maintenance. The prime location is a hit among patrons for its proximity to beaches and local attractions. Opinions on rooms and amenities are mixed, with praise for space and location but critiques on decor and crowding. Value-wise, the hotel is generally seen as a cost-effective choice despite some concerns.

If you are looking for a Hotel Management and Staff who value their clients, the President Hotel in Cape Town is the place to be. If you have followed my reviews, you would have seen my initially review. However, I want to do justice to this awesome and beautiful location. I was unhappy about my first encounter, but they went out of their way to make me feel like royalty and my parents. The staffs is truly welcoming, friendly and makes you feel like you are at home. The view from the reception and pool areas are breathtaking, you can also get a beautiful view of the Queens Beach and Loin’s Head. This hotel is in the heart of wonderful locations of the Mother City and you can catch the Sightseeing Bus on route. There are many cafes or restaurants to choose from, in the Regent or Beach Roads, but the hotel has an awesome Restaurant selection too and you definitely have to taste their pizzas. Their complimentary breakfast buffet is out of this world and they cater for everyone. If you were looking for a hidden gem, you will definitely find it at the President Hotel. I’ll also like to say thank you, to Bronwyn and the Guests Experience Team who insured my experience ended on a high note. I’ll definitely take you up on the offer to return to your beautiful Hotel. You will not be sorry by giving them a visit for drinks, lunch or enjoying the pool area, etc. Until my next visit and once again THANK YOU!

This is a great base to explore the city and beyond. 10 minutes to Camps Bay. 10 minutes to the Waterfront and 30 minutes from the airport. The pool area is great and sundowners at the deck bar are a pleasure - especially at happy hour prices. Staff are very friendly although a couple of the egg chefs could do with cracking a smile.

The promenade is a couple of minutes walk which is great for an early morning run before it gets too hot. Nice touch from the security gate man who has some water waiting for you when you get back. All in all an excellent hotel.

Booked here for 10 days as part of a BA holiday. Used it as a base for travelling around the Western Cape and the wine regions. The reviews were a little mixed so I didn’t have the highest expectations beforehand but this place was excellent in every regard. The rooms were large, comfortable and had excellent amenities (apart from an iron).

The pool was gorgeous although couldn’t really swim lengths in. It had cushioned lilos which were brilliant to relax on. The pool service and food and drinks were superb and very reasonably priced. There were generally plenty of free sun loungers and it was certainly a good spot for sunbathing.

The breakfasts were excellent - plenty of choice each day, with the freshly made omelettes, pancakes, muffins and fresh fruit the highlight. Service was occasionally a little slow on the tea but overall I can’t fault it. The service in general at the hotel was excellent, the staff couldn’t do enough for you.

As for location, Sea Point is ideal - close enough to the centre and the waterfront and also walking distance to Clifton or a short drive to Camps Bay. I would not hesitate to stay here again

I had initially considered other options for my family's stay in Cape Town - AirBnB and other self catering options. However I thought I would check hotels and found the President Hotel to have really good winter rates. I am so pleased that I booked this hotel! From arrival the very first experience is with the friendly gate guard staff, and then an easy check in, with more incredible staff and before we knew it we were in our family suite! The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean and well appointed. The beds were thick, firm and had crisp, clean high thread-count cotton duvets and pillows. Breakfasts were excellent, and again, the staff were very attentive and friendly. The common areas are plentiful, with the bar (which serves South African craft beer!!) and pool area, etc. The location is of course just perfect, with a short walk to the promenade and quick access to all Cape Town has to offer. We enjoyed our stay so much that the following weekend I went back again on my own for some business I had in Cape Town. The President Hotel is a fantastic place to stay. Well done!!

Arrived early and staff were great. Lay at the pool and enjoyed ourselves. When we got to our room, it was not what we booked. We booked a mountain view but were given a courtyard view of buildings. We complained and initially they said there was nothing they could do as they were fully booked. My wife stood her ground and then they said they would see what they could do. We went for a 2 hour walk and when we returned, they had moved our bags to another room. It was a suite with a sea view. Wow. We didnt expect this and are really grateful to the management and staff. We have stayed here before many years ago and would definitely stay here again.
Now in to the review. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff are all super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with a large selection. Pool area is very nice and the food really good.
The only negative is that we not staying longer.

Perfectly situated for a weekend break to the coast. Clean rooms that are perfectly sufficient for a short stay. I applaud the Covid 19 protocols in place and the access to sanitiser was very easy. Rooms were comfortable and staff are efficient with any requests.

We stayed at The President for 6 days.
The hotel is situated in an ideal spot, and it's imposing building leaves an impression.

Staff were excellent, with a special shout out to Djamal, who went out of his way to make us feel special.

Our ocean suite was well appointed, and very clean. Toiletries were not miniatures, rather two pump action refil bottles were fixed on the wall.
(I would suggest that the hotel supply miniatures in the suites).
The hotel has a generator that works well, do load shedding won't effect you. This is very important for guests visiting South Africa 🇿🇦.

Keeping in mind that this hotel certainly deserves its four star rating, still a little improvement is needed in some of the fine details.
I'll give an example; I asked for a cork-screw from housekeeping. Rather than just sending one to the room, they waited for us to finish using it to take it back.
I understand that some guests take liberties, and might take these types of things back with them. This was the most basic type of cork-screw (old and worn too), it just felt a little cheap that the hotel didn't just send it up.

The bar downstairs was amazing, as was the general vibe in the hotel.

I would certainly recommend The President, and thank you to the amazing staff once again.

This hotel is located well, with a nice view of Lion’s head. There is a lot of staff around, many of which were friendly and helpful, but many also were surprisingly grumpy. Things are also surprisingly slow, you will have to wait long to pay your bills etc.
Breakfast is fine, with a good choice and omelettes freshly made. The bar/pool area is very pleasant, although the pool will not invite swimmers... (Well, you can get wet in it...) Plenty of British Airways staff around as guests. My room was very spacious, with a Lavazza coffee machine, but could do with some more attention. One of the TVs didn’t work; there is a completely empty fridge in the room sucking up energy (in an area where there are power problems) and some of the drawers needed some convincing to stay shut.
Overall, and OK place (with a price tag!).

Noisy, children constantly running up and down the corridors and the bar area, around the pool, no part of this hotel is peaceful as it seems families with young children are happy to let them run around feral rather than considering other guests.
The service at the bar area and around the pool is slow and surly. Broken sun beds. Also this hotel caters to children a parties and allows day visitors so often it’s a fight to get a sun bed. Buffet breakfast is ample with lots of options however again it’s not a relaxing affair with children bombing around the place.
Rooms are tired, lumpy pillows and stains on the linen. You can see why this place is popular as it’s a great location and good value for money, but there are plenty of other places on Airbnb for the same money where you’ll have a much more relaxing experience, wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed at The President for a week and think it's simply the best service we've ever had in any hotel, anywhere in the world. My wife and I have stayed in many major international cities, but the hospitality we experienced at The President tops them all. From the reception to the restaurants and the bar, no request was too trivial or too much effort for the smiling staff and management. Ashley, the hotel manager himself, and his colleague Gavin, went as far as going outside at 8pm on a Friday night to adjust some garden spotlights that were shining into our room. When we asked for a late check-out on our departure, the hotel reception staff not only allowed us to check out later than normal...they gave us another room for the rest of the day at NO charge, to relax and have showers before going to the airport for our flight at midnight. The food and wine selection in the restaurant is exceptional, accompanied by wonderful service. Hendrik at the bar makes Happy Hour a REAL happy hour and the ladies at the breakfast buffet made every morning special. I would strongly recommend this hotel, and whenever we visit Cape Town again, we will not hesitate to check in at The President. South Africa can be proud of its people if the staff at The President is anything to go by.

The hotel has plugs for European plugs, but only one in the room. Other plugs are specific for SA. I recommend to get cheap ones from Amazon. Not sure if the hotel has plugs for guests to borrow.

as long as you pay with a credit card you will be covered, but maybe not through an email, go direct to the website to pay, never click a link in an email if you are even slightly unsure.
