Dennis Harvey Variety A cartoonish and crudely staged dramatization of a disturbing true crime. Apr 11, 2014 Full Review Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times The film owes whatever persuasiveness it has to the teen leads' sharp performances - their sisterly chemistry and their filial friction with an alcohol-addled mother, well played by Mira Sorvino. Apr 10, 2014 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times Ms. Breslin and especially Ms. Henley are quite good, elevating a film that seems like an oft-told tale. Apr 10, 2014 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Every now and then, the film hits a definite note of ingenuity, but the deliberately quirky asides, which attempt to enliven the material, feel amateurish and false. Rated: 2/5 Aug 30, 2019 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media Murder, booze, drugs in melodramatic true-crime movie. Rated: 2/5 Feb 11, 2015 Full Review Brent Simon Paste Magazine Exists in a soupy, unpersuasive middle ground, neither touching the rich, charged atmosphere of Heavenly Creatures, nor aiming for something more darkly comedic or rooted in social commentary. Audience Member I know there are a lot of negative reviews referencing how it doesnt so justice to the true crime event of reality, however I feel like this movie is still a good watch despite that. Its a movie i find myself thinking about semi-frequently and coming back to rewatch from time to time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member What can I say this movie is super trash. Too much going and it made no sense man. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member the only good thing about this movie is the effort for making a crime into a movie, the rest are terrible. it has no moral at all and really traumatic, it can also trigger people as well as this shit is all about negativity, filth, evil and immorality ugh Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good movie love true stories Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/10/18 Full Review Audience Member Years later and im still thinking of this film! It's truly heartbreakt with the actresses on screen sister chemistry making the movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Has a strained style that sometimes feels like a television movie, and it's not overly obvious what genre this film in after the first 15 minutes, however the drama of the situation does eventually take over.
