      Critics Consensus

While the cast is something to cheer about, Poms squanders its talented stars on a clichéd comedy that disrespects the demographic it's trying to celebrate.

Kristi H We love this movie. You will navigate laughter and tears while witnessing many ethical considerations of how we treat older adults. A heartfelt movie we highly recommend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Dinos K What's better than watching a bunch of old ladies pretend to be teenage cheerleaders? Everything else, even self-flagellation Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Devin B A great funny and feel good comedy that will keep you cheering! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/09/23 Full Review Nora F This movie was so much fun!! I'm a 62-year-old woman who also wanted to be a cheerleader but was never able to be. This movie is NOT disrespectful to older people. It showcases what we can do! And that we can still be sexy!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/16/23 Full Review Matthew B Enjoyed, nice all around Cheer! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Erica H I don't care what the critics say about this movie, the audience reviews are high and I understand why. I think some of the critics ( men 🙄) totally missed the whole point. I thought this movie was great. I love Diane Keaton and Rhea Perlman, as well as Pam Grier. The other actors were also great. The movie is about women's empowerment and women's support of each other. It's about standing up for other women. It's about doing something that you love no matter what other people think. I it's about older generations relating to younger generations. It's about finding meaning in our lives. And it's about forming relationships no matter what age you are it kind of reminds me of the Golden girls. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) These women deserve so much better... It feels forced and problematic. Sep 28, 2019 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian I found it, in order, depressing, moving and uplifting. Rated: 3.5/5 May 24, 2019 Full Review Leah Pickett Chicago Reader Director Zara Hayes, to her credit, mixes some dark humor and blistering social commentary into this otherwise frothy cocktail of pratfalls and platitudes. May 14, 2019 Full Review Hosea Rupprecht Pauline Center for Media Studies Making a movie about seniors who are self-confident and connected with each other and the younger generation in a meaningful way is a noble goal. Unfortunately, Poms doesn't make the cut. Aug 13, 2021 Full Review Emma Simmonds Radio Times Keaton and Weaver bring plenty of personality to their characters, and while the narrative is rattled through rather hastily, Poms just about transcends the cheesiness of its premise. Rated: 3/5 Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com A decent film that should have been a much better film. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 20, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
