Excellent show.... Misguided Reviewers!

I love this series and have the book and DVD. It's very well done and just beautiful. One of favorite PBS Masterpieces.
People are not reviewing the contract here but their displeasure with Amazon videos distribution of the film. I have found that until it airs on television it is not available on prime video until the day after it aired. Even.. if you buy it you will not be able to see more episodes
Amazon has become a bit unscrupulous as if late. They make you subscribe to channels you don't want instead if being able to purchase seasons of shows you love. Again, you cannot see the episode until after it airs on television, but at least I don't have to constantly subscribe to channels I neither want or need. I suspect it has far more to do with the offering companies than by choice but is still a very bad marketing model.
Thankfully the DVD arrives tomorrow and us the uncut British version of this show which will be better all round in my opinion.
Please review the content of shows and save your complaints about amazons services for Amazon directly, it's very misguiding to others looking for something good to watch! This is an excellent show with a mediocre rating because people are mususing the rating system. That is not helpful to other viewers.

This movie had a shocking sexual scene in it between two men, not to mention a lame plot. Not what we’d expect from this movie genre.

Wonderfully cast dram, with bits of secrets around every corner. The cold of heart and hearth behind the doors of the wealthy are deceiving and intriguing. After the second episode I'm longing for more. The culture of Holland during this period of history is new to me. The flight of the economy is tenuous. One deal floundering leaves families on the streets. Portrayal of their lack of breathing while in church makes for stark fear.
I'm enthralled with this Series even at this early stage. And, the dollhouse has it's own story line.

I was thrilled to see they had adapted this fantastic novel for television. I read it long ago, so I had forgotten much of the details of the story so it was like reading/seeing it for the first time.

I believe it stayed pretty much true to the book. You come to like this young girl thrust into a marriage of convenience to save her family from poverty. Her husband seems to be a nice person, he seems to be trying as best he can to make her happy. It is as if he has little experience with such matters and is awkward around her. In the end, they become good friends, as they have little else but each other. I liked seeing that aspect of things, how they took care of each other despite not always being able to connect in other ways.

The supporting characters were very strong and likable. Acting was top notch. I highly recommend.
