The Informer may prove a passable diversion for less demanding thriller fans, but most of its ingredients have been recycled from superior entries in the genre.

Shay C Pretty good. Not too cringe, if you know what I mean, and it's entertaining. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Ruud T Eindelijk een film die vele clichés achter zich laat. De moeite van het bekijken waard. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Jeffrey P Meh, was expecting more of a prison drama, not a split story between prison and the outside that becomes too fictitious to take as seriously as the first half, Still, it was interesting enough to keep my attention. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Test T I watched this on dvd recently. It's violent and brutal at times, although the story starts off well and the scenes set in New York are quite exciting to watch. However, once Pete is sent back to prison it looses it's finesse and it feels like a different low budget episode of the first part. This is another one of those movies where the NYPD and FBI don't get on which reminded me of how different Councils used to clash, despite working cooperatively as public sector stake holders! The plot is far too complicated and reaches the point where the credibility of the whole story is lost, resulting in an empty experience for the viewer. The more I watched the worse it seemed and I soon began to hope it would end. I fast forwarded through some of it to lessen the ordeal. Sadly, I can't recommend this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Jonathan M Intro and middle was good, but conclusion lacked goodness Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/24 Full Review John H Worth the time investment. Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Joel Kinnaman is taking names in true action movie-star fashion. Rated: 3/4 Nov 7, 2020 Full Review Michael Ordoña Los Angeles Times "The Informer" isn't bad. It's just nothing special. Nov 7, 2020 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter A solid crime flick whose heart rate never rises to a point commensurate with the many layers of danger its eponymous protagonist faces. Nov 6, 2020 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “The Informer” nimbly plays within its gritty crime genre, maintaining a propulsive pace that keeps its audience on their toes. It all tangibly plays out within the moral malaise of underworld violence and crooked law enforcement. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 22, 2022 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation The intrigues are breathless and the violence so in your face that it takes a seriously off-key third act to make this one more a mixed bag than it was setting up to be. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 8, 2022 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …The Informer’s generic title hides a sober, fairly gripping thriller that’s something of an antidote to much of the silver-screen’s childish fare… Rated: 3/5 May 6, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
