      The Incredible Hulk

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Incredible Hulk may not be quite the smashing success that fans of Marvel's raging behemoth might hope for, but it offers more than enough big green action to make up for its occasionally puny narrative.

Tom Charity CNN.com The climax is a bit of a yawn, but most of what precedes it is vigorous and sharp. Apr 14, 2013 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Chicago Norton makes for a wiry, curious Bruce Banner. But you can tell from the film's tedium-inducing smackdowns that a different philosophy prevailed: the artificial Zen of video-game playing. Rated: 3/5 May 4, 2012 Full Review Wally Hammond Time Out A more satisfactory adaptation of the spirit of Stan Lee's Marvel character. Rated: 3/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) While it pales in comparison to Ang Lee’s thrilling 2003 Hulk, Edward Norton’s lone venture into the MCU as the angry green guy was a perfectly suitable introduction for the character. Feb 27, 2024 Full Review Christopher Lloyd The Film Yap The "forgotten" MCU feature is now available on Disney+, and it remains an interesting if flawed vehicle for Edward Norton that might have taken the Avengers saga in a very different direction. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 1, 2023 Full Review Nicolás Delgadillo Discussing Film It's the first time the character has ever looked truly impressive onscreen, and every action scene is explosive and has real power behind it, with every blow feeling strong enough to crack the earth wide open. John T. H I enjoyed the story but I'm not a fan of the way the Hulk looks too greasy... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Christian W It seems the creators of the MCU had two directors go out and make two different movies in one year and tried to see what their audiences wanted more. Iron Man or Incredible Hulk? While I do miss the serious tone of the Hulk character and I actually like where this movie was going and was hoping to see more, that just wasn't how thing turned out unfortunately. I have said it before that I believe one of the laziest villain motives you can give them is that they want to beat the hero, so Emil Blonsky's character motive feels incredibly boring and like there should be more to it. He just wants to be injected with the Hulk's blood because he wants to be able to beat him. Ross feels more flushed out than Blonsky but again Ross is angry about the Hulk being out and about and he wants to arrest him in order to contain his power and use it eventually? I do not understand it. The action in this movie is good though, Edward Norton plays the scared of himself scientist fairly well, competently shot, Liv Tyler is okay even if she is a little boring. Overall this is another one of the weaker MCU films but still one that is worth the watch if you are diving into the MCU. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/08/24 Full Review Adolf H Its a GREAT depiction of the hulk, this hulk has the speed and anger. This hulk it the hulk marvel shouldve stuck with, this hulk looks better than the newer hulk, the movie was amazing, i watched it 20 times already and now im watching it again. I really love this hulk and the 2003 hulk, those are the real HULKS of MARVEL Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Movie G Cinematic masterpiece, like the Mona Lisa of movies Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Jacob C I would recommend this only to people who have a passion for Marvel movies. It is important to the timeline to know how the Hulk came to be. Everything else is just not necessary. The actors do not continue to play roles in the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and are therefore null and void. Only watch if you truly want to know. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Lukas K Love the darker atmosphere same as with other older MC movies. Norton is amazing as the Hulk. Definitely worth a watch.
