Genealogy society will meet virtually on Zoom
The Houston West Family Genealogy Society will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 for a virtual holiday party and members’ show and tell during a Zoom video conference.

Unique, large holiday light event continues
The Light Park at Hurricane Harbor Splashtown continues daily from 5:30 to 10 p.m. through Dec. 31. Admission is $40 per vehicle.

The drive-thru interactive holiday light experience includes millions of animated LED lights including a drive-thru tunnel advertised as the world’s largest of its kind. All of the lights are synchronized to music broadcast on a low power FM radio station guests can tune to once in the park.

Wave at Santa from the car at park event
The City of Tomball presents an event it is calling “Drivin’ Thru a Santa Wonderland” at 1 p.m. on Dec. 11 at Juergens Park in Tomball.

Residents are encouraged to wave to Santa from the comfort of their vehicles and drop off letters to Santa in exchange for a goodie bag handed out by elves. The city is also collecting nonperishable items for its citywide food drive.

Live nativity scene at Winter Wonderland

Virtual meeting explores life on Texas-Mexico border
The nonprofit organization Call to Action presents a virtual gathering titled “A Virtual Border Experience” from 12 to 1 p.m. on Dec. 12.
The event marks the one-year anniversary since the organization sponsored a trip to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for participants to experience life in the border city of McAllen. The discussion will focus on what a comprehensive immigration policy that honors the dignity of each person may look like in a new political era.
