The Greatest Generation Explained

Discussion

Here's the timeline of how I would describe how the Greatest Generation lived! The G.I. Generation itself is a very big generation, so this post is gonna look a tad bit differently organized from my previous posts explaining generations! Anyways, let's go:

1900s-1910s, Being Born/Childhood

The first generation born in the 20th Century! This whole time period alone is during the time when both the Early & Core parts of the Greatest Generation are being born, but the older members of this generation start to form their first memories. Broadly the G.I. Generation's childhood as a whole took place in the Late 1900s to Mid 1930s! The oldest of the generation even first became teens in the 1910s.

1920s, Childhood - Teen Years

As a whole, in the 1920s all of the G.I. Generation were in different life stages! Mostly they were still in their childhood to also being in their adolescence, but on an even broader level, the youngest of the generation were still being born, while the oldest members were entering adulthood! During the Roaring '20s.

1930s, Childhood/Adolescence - Young Adulthood/Average Adulthood

Now during the Great Depression, the oldest of the generation were in their early adulthood, while the youngest were still kids & teens.

1940s, Teens - Average Adulthood

By the chaotic 1940s during the recovery from the Great Depression & WW2, all of the G.I. Generation were not in their childhood anymore, on a broad level, the older members of the generation were now the main average adults of the population at the time, while the youngest were still in their adolescence. This generation were also the WW2 Veterans!

1950s, Young Adulthood - Middle-Aged

Now as WW2 ended & the start of the Cold War during the also revolutionary time of the '50s, all of the Greatest Generation officially became of age! On a wide scale, the oldest of the generation were now middle-aged adults, while the youngest just entered young adulthood.

1960s, Average Adulthood - Middle-Aged

As a whole, this was the generation that witnessed JFK's Assassination, Civil Rights Movement, Segregation Abolishment, & the Moon Landing rather later on in their lives! On a broad scale, the older side of the generation were still mostly middle-aged, while the younger side of the generation were now the main average adults of the population.

1970s, Middle-Aged - Senior Citizens

As a whole this generation aren't exactly in their prime anymore. On a wide scale, they were now mostly middle-aged & the older side of the generation became senior citizens for the first time. The '70s were a time during the creation of Disco & a process of going through another recession & Nixon, Ford, & Carter's presidency.

1980s, Senior Citizens

The '80s would probably be the only decade that would perfectly sum up the whole generation roughly being senior citizens. During the popularity of videogames, Reagan's presidency, War On Drugs, & a very loved decade for music.

1990s, Retirement Home Age/Very Elderly

During the last decade of the 20th Century, this isn't exactly this generation's era anymore, but of course a lot of them were still alive around the world. Now witnessing the fall of the Soviet Union, Grudge, Y2K!

2000s, Very Elderly - Centenarians

Now during the turn of the new Millennium, a good amount of this generation were still alive, the older members are now becoming centenarians for those who still lived long enough, & the youngest members were still in their 70s & 80s.

2010s, Centenarians

As a whole, in the 2nd decade of the new Millennium could be summed up as the Greatest Generation mostly being Centenarians, but on a broad level, they were mostly now the youngest of the generation were still in their 80s & 90s, while the oldest of the generation were now Super Centenarians! For those who were still alive would've witnessed a great change of technology & culture! Worlds apart from what they used to experience during their prime!

2020s, Centenarians - Super Centenarians

Not many of them are left alive during this decade, which is today, but for those who are still alive, the youngest are now still in their 90s, almost Centenarians, while the oldest are now considered Super Centenarians, as the oldest person alive today is 117 years old! For those who are still alive would witness the COVID-19 Pandemic, & now Post-COVID with the rise of A.I. & technology is now evolving faster more advanced than ever before! I'm not sure if some of the generation would've even imagined some of today's events & technology would've happened during their lifetime!...

In my opinion, the Lost Generation-Greatest Generation cuspers would be those born between 1897-1903. Especially the underage teenagers who falsified their ages in order to join the army..

Agreed with this actually!
