Product Description

Stockard Channing is Miriam, an "ugly duckling" who is dumped on by everyone. After her heart is broken by a callous campus jock, Miriam tearfully speeds off in her car and is involved in a serious accident. Plastic surgery is required, and when Miriam emerges from behind the bandages, she is ravishingly beautiful. It's payback time when she uses her new attractiveness to exact revenge on all those who wronged her. Edward Asner plays the police inspector who's hot on the trail of the femme fatale. A dark comedy written by Joan Rivers, THE GIRL MOST LIKELY TO... will leave you in stitches!

Many of us have been eagerly waiting for this movie to come out for the past 36 years. I can't begin to describe how happy I am to finally find it. For any movie to have been so profoundly memorable to so many people... you know it has to be great.

Stockard Channing's performance and makeup in this movie were exceptional. One of a kind... which is why this movie has really stuck in our minds.

The portrayal of her as a very homely, overweight girl who is cruelly tormented and abused by her classmates is so realistic, it is hard to believe it is makeup. They didn't have the fancy tricks available back then... nor the budgets. So, when Stockard Channing transforms into her new appearance, it is quite a shock. It is hard to believe it is the same actress.

Then when she seeks revenge, she becomes the most amazing chameleon of multiple disguises and accents. A truly memorable display of Stockard Channing's acting talents.

In addition to Ed Asner, you will see many other recognizable actors in this movie who were very young at the time. Well known in top rated series like Chips, Love Boat, Gilligan's Island, etc.

After seeing this movie, it was apparent that she should have been a top talent in film and TV. She apparently opted to do a lot of stage performances but that deprived the rest of us from seeing her. I was disappointed over the years that I didn't see a lot more of her in movies. I think her manager didn't do her justice. She should have had a better choice of scripts and films. Definitely an under appreciated talent with multifaceted skills.

While I'm not a Joan Rivers fan, her writing of this story was exceptional. She and the director should be commended for this masterpiece. They did a top notch job without expending a huge budget. This was back before movies had to depend on computer graphics and special effects to keep the audience entertained. There was not a boring moment in the entire movie. The only problem which might have reduced the audience is that it shares a similar title with a much older movie and could have easily been mistaken for that other movie when listed.

I do have an old VHS copy of this movie which I fortunately made back around 1985 but is not the best quality since it was taped from antenna. It was probably the only time I can remember that this movie was ever repeated and I was just lucky enough to catch it at that time.

So I am thrilled to finally find this movie again. Someone actually listened to the fans for a change. I only wish I had known about it sooner.

With the unfortunate passing of Joan Rivers I just had to pick up this classic made for T.V. dark comedy. If nobody told you this was a made for T.V. movie you probably would have assumed it was a theater production its just that good. Written by Joan Rivers in the 70's this revenge comedy is timeless as the issues of bullying have never gone away & people seem to be as cruel today as ever! This makes it easy to cheer on our misguided heroine in her quest for revenge! It is a all to believable story of a highly intelligent girl who suffers from being bullied & picked on for no other reason than her less than perfect looks. After being in a terrible car accident caused by her driving away in tears & upset finding herself yet again the target of others ridicule she wakes up to find that a team of brilliant plastic surgeons have given her a new lease on life as they take the bandages off to reveal she is now a stunning beauty! Her new found looks accompanied with her clever mind make it easy for her to exact her revenge on the individuals who treated her so cruelly! Only Joan Rivers acrid humor could make such sensitive subject matter so hilarious. This is not your average made for T.V. movie fare & certainly worth checking out. This movie had a sort of cult following in the past & now after the loss of the movies writer Joan Rivers I am pretty sure this one will start flying off the shelf's so get it while you can. I wouldn't be surprised to see this cult classic start having a huge price tag as it becomes harder to get!

A not bad movie that showcases a woman who is not treated properly for her current looks and a twist of fate changes that and she gets back at those who scorned her.

A great made for TV movie w/lot’s of big name stars
and soon to be stars.TGMLT definately falls into the
realm of black comedy with it’s plot of bullying and
revenge for same.A pre-“Grease” Stockard
Channing is the antagonist who metes out payback
for her mistreatment in various forms.Ed Asner is
the detective hot on her trail who begins to put two
and two together and devises a plan to trap this
little vixen. One of her tormentors also happens to
be a pre-“C.H.I.P.S” Larry Wilcox,who does NOT
promise Channing’s character,Miriam Knight a rose
garden.
Not classic entertainment, but anyone who enjoys
seeing bullies get their just desserts, this is their
movie.A very enjoyable 90 minute excursion into the bizarre and a departure from the standard TV
pablum that most movies- of-the-week dished out
during the 1970’s.Highly recommended!!

The Girl Most Likely To…, a 1973 ABC Movie of the Week, is given its best video presentation to date. Picture quality is outstanding and matches the great performance by Stockard Channing. She should have won an Emmy just for her expressions behind the hospital bandages – hilarious! Ed Asner, Chuck McCann and a host of familiar faces contribute to the magic here.
Well informed commentary by Amanda Reyes and Kier-La Janisse delves into the life and career of author Joan Rivers and the context of the ABC Movie of the Week phenomenon. If we ever see a Blu-Ray release of 1980’s “Little Darlings” with Kristy McNichol, I’m putting in my vote now for a commentary from these two. Excellent job – thanks Kino Lorber!

Ed Azner plays the cop and Stockard Channing plays a plain student who is used and abused by everyone. She is a genius, has cosmetic surgery and is transformed into a beauty that none of her old enemies recognizes. Very funny movie!

I saw this movie many years ago, and the plot and ending was just so riviting, I searched for some time to find it. I finally found it on Amazon, and grabbed it! Stockard Channing was incredible as the "Lady of Revenge" and I'm very happy to have finally found it.

What ca i say about this Film noir. I saw this as a young woman, one day when i was playing hooky from school. It was an film for TV movie. Some about it struck a chord with me.

I later had forgotten all about it, until my own daughter was describing how she would like to change this or that about her life, love and body. It instantly came back to me, I have been trying to track it down ever since. Voila! Only of amazon....

The story goes along the lines of a young woman, who does not seem to get much luck in her life, she is not the prettiest of things and seems to be always over looked. The character is involved in and crash and has be to stitched back together. Thus creating a beautiful thing, who seeks to act revenge on those who have caused her harm.

Cleverly done and well worth a watch.
