openWhy is Tzadikim Nistarim listed in JustForFun?
Tzadikim Nistarim strikes me as a fairly regular, non-typically-comedic trope. So... why? Did I come late to the joke or something?
openEdit war to remove Natter?
Under Characters. My Little Pony Equestria Girls Sunset Shimmer, this was added to an entry I wrote:
- Informed Ability: She was apparently Princess Celestia's most prized magic pupil before she went to the Human World and Twilight came along. But in the series she never, without external sources, displays any more advanced magic than teleportation which is normal for unicorn prodigies. It's only in her Loose Canon prequel comic where she demonstrates unique spells. However, she does Teleport in the first movie, a spell that is implied to be quite complex.
The last part is Natter and ignores how it was addressed in the entry, that teleportation is advanced, but common enough for the magically adept that if fails to show her having been the best of the best being Celestia's student implies. (I ran this possibly by MLP Cleanup when first proposing this.) Note the the Uniqueness Decay that made teleportation widespread for magic prodigies only took full effect after the first movie.
Would it be edit warring if I remove the addition? Should I make it clearer why teleportation is insufficient evidence?
Edited by Ferot_DreadnaughtopenCharacter's Prime and Alternate-Future Selves merged or remain separate?
I've seen precedence for both:
- Sougo Tokiwa and Woz from Kamen Rider Zi-O (Merged)
- Saru Brother, Oni Sister, Don Murasame and their alternate future selves from Avataro Sentai Donbrothers (Separate)
I recently merged Gotchard's Prime Houtaro and Gotchard Daybreak, but now I'm having doubts that it was the right decision.
Any suggestions?
Edited by LeleTinFarylopenSci-Fi Writers Have No Sense of What?
A pair of questions about Sci-Fi Writers Have No Sense of Scale:
Should the sub-tropes listed within it (No Sense of Distance, No Sense of Time, No Sense of Mass, No Sense of Energy, No Sense of Velocity, No Sense of Units...) be used on a work page? Or solely the main trope?
And if those subpages are used, where do you place them in the alphabetical order? Because if you don't use a pothole or a format such as SciFiWritersHave. No Sense Of Units, then the namespace gets truncated and the sub-trope titles just read "No Sense of..."
Edited by StFanopenAuthor's Saving Throw - Correct use? Videogame
- Author's Saving Throw: Among the most infamous That One Levels in Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion are the ones where Agent 8 must roll an 8-ball across an obstacle course to a goal. Dropping the ball into a pit means failing the test and losing a life — and you will drop the ball, thanks to the finicky physics and tight paths you have to roll them across. In Side Order, ball-rolling stages return. The first time you enter one, Pearl groans "Not again!" in dismay... only for Acht to tell her to cool it, because these balls can't fall off the stage.
openRe create The recap for Wolverine and the X-Men Western Animation
May recreate the recap page for Wolverine and the X-Men? I am already prepared to create a recap page for an episode or two when I know it’s okay.
Edited by Greglarocca095openEpisode page mis-numbered Live Action TV
In the recap section and individual page for Severance (2022), both the eighth and ninth (final) episodes are titled as episode eight - how can I edit these so the final episode is titled episode nine in both sections?
resolved Editor using discussion pages as a forum
Itsnouse19518505268 has left a lot of comments on discussion pages, hardly any of which have to do with editing the pages, they are mostly giving their opinion on entries found on these pages.
I don't know if this breaks any rules, so I haven't contacted them about it, but it is taking away from these page's purpose.
openEdit War?
So, on YMMV.Fallout 2024 the following happened:
- Barth Vader added an Ass Pull entry.
- D Jones 662 removed it citing "Not really an "Ass Pull", in fact, its still consistent with the games. Even before the series, nuclear weapons have appeared practically EVERYWERE in games, and have been relatively easy for factions to get their hands on. Hell, in 3, the main town of Megaton was built around an unexploded nuclear bomb. So it really wouldn't be unbelievable for Vault-Tec to have access to a bomb. Also, Vault-Tec specializes in building underground vaults, so they'd definitely have the means to survive the nuclear holocaust."
- Barth Vader readded a tweaked entry citing "I concede the point about nuclear weapons, but considering the level of insanity and card-carrying villainy on display both in this series and in previous entries of the franchise, "Vault-Tec could've been around because they know how to build vaults" isn't enough to make it not come out of left field. Re-added the entry with elaboration."
Now I don't know if the entry actually counts, but this was not discussed anywhere. So, is this an edit war?
resolved UPDATE work pages with no examples
My apologies, but I accidentally locked the original ATT: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?parent_id=133619&type=att
Turns out, Toy Storyin Space Play Set DID respond to my notifier when I sent it on the same day, but for whatever reason I did not receive a notification. This was on the 21st. I saw it just now.
Aside from that sudden notification issue, their reply was not helpful at all. Instead of telling me anything specific, they said that it's "somehow their fault". I'm pretty sure quoting the full line is against the rules, but anyway they made no reference to correcting anything in particular.
Now what?

resolved Is WetTShirtContest a unisex or gendered trope?
The description of the main Wet T-Shirt Contest trope page doesn't list it as a gendered trope. However, the Playing With page for Wet T-Shirt Contest has a Gender-Inverted entry that lists men being in the contest, suggesting that the trope is Always Female, and some examples have followed suit (I think) by listing male examples as "inverted".
I've been reviewing a potential discussed example and would like to ask for clarification for whether the trope is gendered, especially since its Super-Trope of Sexy Soaked Shirt is unisex; it's because if the trope is unisex, then I think the Playing With page and the examples that follow its listing conventions should be edited to reflect that.
openOdd page
I've discovered ImageLinks.Cosplay Fan Art, which says it's a Sub-Trope despite not being in Main/. Is this even a valid page?

resolved work pages with no examples
Yesterday Toy Storyin Space Play Set created two work pages with zero examples: Fanfic.A Ghostto Remember You By and Fanfic.TONIGHT Restart From This Night.
I sent them a notifier yesterday that said that work pages need to have examples, and that the name for the first fic should be Fanfic.A Ghost To Remember You By as opposed to what it is now.
They fixed the ghost thing, but somehow it still reads as "A Ghostto Remember You By" in the page, and they haven't added any examples. In addition, they added the fics to a few indexes already.
I checked the rest of their edit history and it seems fine (no issues pop up) so asking ATT may be premature, but I've never seen anyone create a work page with NO examples whatsoever.
resolved Nononsensecapeesh
...Is a troper that keeps violating our editing policies, even after notifiers (and one attempt to reach out on a thread).
Primarily, the notifiers have been about ZCE and indentation. And yet, it has not made a difference, at least when it comes to proper example context (indentation they seem to have gotten a grasp on). But the issues run deeper than this. In the past few days alone, their examples also contain:
- Speculation and arguable examples, especially when it comes to the balloon man.
- Some slightly awkward grammar
- Misplaced examples
- General trope misuse.
The time I tried to ping them to a thread was over a unilateral and improperly split character's page, which they also never cleaned or indexed. They ignored my attempt to reach out. It's also worth noting that my most recent notifiers to them were in March.
resolved YMMV pages for franchises with a list of YMMV pages for other works. Are such lists necessary?
I've noticed that there are several YMMV pages for franchises that contain a list containing pages to other works in the franchise, such as YMMV.Batman, YMMV.Marvel Cinematic Universe, YMMV.Superman, YMMV.Puyo Puyo, etc. However, I question the need for such lists. A part of me can understand that maybe they provide a useful link to YMMV tropes for specific works, but on the other hand, I feel all they really do is clutter up the page. Especially with long-running franchises like Batman and Superman, who have so many works that their franchise pages are just indexes for those works. But what do you think?
Edited by Tylerbear12
So Cherami Leigh's first name is apparently a composite of the French words "cher" and "ami", which when put together mean "dear friend". I've put it in the Trivia tab for now, but I'm not sure if that's where it's supposed to go. I'm being cautious here because I already got picked up on this once before when I put it on the main page. Am I doing the right thing?
