Visiting from Chicago during one of San Diego’s coldest spells in recent history, we were searching for a cozy, comfort dinner. We were lucky enough to find 3rd Corner to provide a delicious warm meal in a charming wine cellar inspired environment. My husband had...steak and fresh caught spiny lobster, my daughter-the kitchen sink salad with delightfully jumbo shrimp, my son-the grilled chicken pasta and I - the braised short rib. We really appreciated the chef inspired, scratch made meals which we could pair perfectly, thanks to the extensive wine selection. If you are in Ocean Beach, this place is a can’t miss!More

We found it from other TA reviews and are so glad we did. It is a cute wine shop with a beautiful outside garden style seating area. Tables are separated by trellised plants, giving you privacy as well. Staff are extremely courteous, helpful, and masked...at all times. The food was truly amazing. We had a hard time choosing because there are so many wonderful dishes on the menu plus the night’s special of sea bass sounded great. We started with the artisan cheese plate —4 cheese, fruit, walnuts, fig preserves, and bread — perfect with the first glass of wine. In the end, we both went with their not to be missed diver scallop entree (this is what the reviews id read raved about). It was so so good. If you are a foodie, this place will make your heart sing! Just as the reviews I’d read promised, this is a place not to be missed!More

When my Uber dropped me off at the designated location, it still took me a few moments before I could locate The 3rd Corner. I must have looked at the wrong first 2 corners first! But I found it and entered what looked like a...nice wine shop with tables around the many racks of wine. I dined alone but was hungry so the charcuterie and cheese board sounded good even though I had heard the soups here are special. But it was a delightful board to enjoy. My entree was a duck cassoulet. The duck was a perfectly cooked leg quarter with crackling skin. The cassoulet featured small white beans and sausages and vegetables. The whole dish came out steaming hot and was a delight from first bite to last. The menu offered many other fine-looking entrees and of course there was a lot to choose from on wine and the cabernet my wonderful server directed me to was a perfect complement to the duck. Highly recommended.More

We came to this restaurant for many years….10+, it has been going downhill with inattentive wait staff and deteriorating quality. Wines are numerous but quality are not comparable to the prices charged. Sorry to say we will not be back and so will be our...friends whom we can influence.More

We absolutely loved this restaurant. We had our granddaughter, who is a very picky eater but finished her buttered penne pasta with Parmesan cheese, so she was rewarded with a chocolate flourless cake. My wife had the charcuterie board and I had the roasted chicken...with vegetables.Francine was marvelous. That was our last night in San Diego and it could not have been a better selection. Bravo.More

We had an early dinner here (were still on EST) and enjoyed the cute, casual ambience indoors amongst the wine racks. The service was great and the food good. We happened to be there during happy hour, and had great selection of wine by the...glass for very reasonable prices. Had a nice but overdressed salad (forgot to ask for dressing on the side) and a decent lamb cassoulet. We were flying home so weren't ready to purchase bottles of wine, but it's a good place to find reasonably priced great selections (better than a grocery store!).More

Spicy sausage penne $26 I like this meal and there was plenty on the plate. Daou pessimist red blend was very good My wife had duck cassoulet and liked it a lot. Chocolate chip Bread pudding made with croissants $15 This was OK Plenty for...two or three people to enjoy. Chocolate was too muted but overall good pudding. Ceiling lights, a number of people commented on being too harsh. Could use bulbs with lower color temp. Service was good.More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this unassuming restaurant. Our server was informative and pointed out the great wine deals. Mushroom soup was velvety and delicious. I only wish they would give me the recipe for their duck cassoulet. It was the...best I've ever had. My husband's monk fish special was also very good. Please consider opening in Scottsdale, AZ.More

Wonderful little neighborhood spot! The staff so friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. All different gatherings at dinner tables, from first dates to family affairs. Food is excellent, I've been here 3 times and had great food with generous portions. Risotto dishes are savory, salads...fresh, and seafood done just right. The cheese boards are always changing and perfect for sharing. You can choose your wine to have with your meal or have the staff expertly choose, and even take a few bottles home.More

Lovely friendly place & people. Attentive & intelligent service. Really good menu & vast wine list. Buzzing atmosphere even at 7:00pm on a Thursday in January. Not cheap, doesn’t need to be & doesn’t try to be.

The 3rd Corner Restaurant in Ocean Beach is part wine store, part restaurant. And they do both well. We both opted for the Sunday evening Prix Fixe. We each got a goat cheese salad with mixed greens and macadamia nuts. The entrees were a braised...lamb shank, so tender it almost fell off the bone, served with a mushroom risotto, arugula, and a red wine bordelaise. The crabmeat stuffed red snapper was served with a citrus butter sauce, potato puree, and sauteed vegetables--a flavorful treat with just a hint of citrus. Dessert was a delicious chocolate marquis with fresh berries and whipped cream. All this for $24.95! The optional wine pairing for was a Sauvignon Blanc from Italy, a Grenache from California, and a nice dessert wine from Italy. All three for $12. Excellent service, good food, good wine, and a great value. I highly recommend The 3rd Corner and plan to go back when I am in San Diego.More

On our next to last night in Ocean Beach we stopped at 3rd Corner after coming across it on an internet search. Our server, Rachel was fantastic and attentive from start to finish. I genuinely felt like I had made a friend by the time...we left! We started with a glass of wine (there were so many amazing choices and you can take a bottle home - they just charge a record fee of $5, bottles are not marked up) and olives. For dinner I had the roasted chicken with some of the best gnocchi I have ever had and my companion had the NY Strip. For dessert we had the chocolate flourless cake (it was more like a mousse) and the grand mariner whipped cream....try it...it is amazing...and apple almond tart. We cleaned our plates and then headed over to sunset cliffs to walk it off and see an amazing sunset. This place is a gem in Ocean Beach!More

Came to the "wine bar" and enjoyed the extensive selection of wines and ordered some small plates to go along with the wine, service and the small plates were all fine and the service was properly attentive. I love the way this place has many...small alcoves that makes the place a lot more intimate. When in SD in the future, I will be back!More

First time visitors to this highly popular 'local' place. Concept is super cool, wine store where you shop to pick a wine you want with your meal. Can't think of anyplace in Chicago like this! Food was delicious & unique, wife had scallops & I...had shrimp arrabbiata. Started w heirloom tomato salad split which was delightful. Wonderful soft rose to go along. Michael our server was fantastic, helping us get familiar with the restaurant concept etc. overall 10 out of 10 rating! If you stay in the Mission Bay Area this is a must try place!More
