Even though just two additional records were released in the five years after the release of Signs of Life (1986’s Enough Is Enough and 1989’s Hear and Now), Squier made an effort to respond positively to his declining popularity by continuing to tour and make more music. However, “Don’t Say You Love Me” from 1989 was the closest Squier would ever come to another smash. This hasn’t, however, diminished the musician’s classic rock fan base or stopped modern musicians from paying Squier different and heartfelt tributes. Oddly enough, well-known hip-hop artists like Jam Master Jay from Run-DMC and Jay-Z have acknowledged (through sampling) the iconic quality of Squier’s best work.
