Zaragoza was struck with typhoid fever not too long after his famous victory and died on September 8th, 1862 at the age of 33. Today thanks to Vaccines Typhoid has become comparatively rare compared to the 19th century.

If you are Spanish, jail.

Cinco de Mayo is primarily celebrated in Puebla, the birthplace of the holiday. In most other parts of Mexico, it's a national holiday similar to President's Day. Some children don't go to school on Cinco de Mayo, but for most people it's a normal work day.
