Amazon.com: The Assassination Bureau : Movies & TV
Oliver Reed and Diana Rigg head an impeccable cast in The Assassination Bureau, a spirited caper inspired by a book co-written by Jack London. Reed plays Ivan, the self-confident chief of an association of hitmen for hire, who will refuse no well-paid offer - especially the lucrative challenge of an aspiring reporter (Rigg). Reasoning that a running cat-and-mouse duel with his henchmen will rid the organization of incompetents, Ivan agrees to become the object of a nonstop hunt. The game is afoot...and Europe is the playground!

A thoroughly fun movie - have rewatched it numerous times already - Oliver Reed never disappoints, he's charismatic & commanding and it's obvious why he was a star - Diana Rigg, Telly Savalas (soon to square off against each other in On Her Majesty's Secret Service), Curt Jurgens, Clive Revill, Philippe Noiret all give able supporting help, but it's Oliver Reed's show and he's absolutely wonderful, the man can do an eyebrow arch like nobody else - lushly filmed at Pinewood it never falters on the enjoyment meter - was thoroughly delighted that movie's in widescreen, though product description said full screen, action adventure flicks and epics should be seen in widescreen as a lot of what's going on fills up whole screen, fullscreen frequently chops off stuff happening on the edges and you wind up with ersatz chamber drama - Warner Archive, Sony Choice Collection, et al are an absolute godsend to people like me who love and collect classic movies/movies that are just plain impossible to find anywhere else
Whenever I am feeling down I love to watch this movie. It is action packed and quite hilarious with great chemistry between Oliver Reed as the head of the Assassination Bureau and Diana Rigg as the reporter who hires him...to kill himself. he agrees as he thinks the Bureau has fallen from his father's ideals and wants to 'clean house' so to speak and the chase is on across Europe.
This has long been one of my favorite movies ever since I saw it as a teen-ager (and promptly fell in love with Oliver Reed!). It is pretty campy, but a lot of fun. Diana Rigg and Oliver Reed have a great chemistry, and a lot of the humor is sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek. I still love it and was very happy to see it in DVD.
I have nothing to say beyond the fact that this is one of my favorite films of all time. I was so happy to finally be able to add it to my collection. It's the very best example of this genre that was quite popular in the 60's. The cover is a tragedy and doesn't begin to describe the confection of the film.
This is a very funny spoof on a group of assassins. Diana Rigg plays a reporter who wants to expose the bureau. It is set in the early 1900's but was filmed in the 60's sometime around her Avenger/Mrs Peel days. Action, humor, and romance are all in attendance with an all star cast.
