Turn back time: Cher then and now
With Cher celebrating her 71st birthday this weekend, join us as we turn back time to see legendary singer and actress's life and career through the years.

In the 1960s, Cher and her then-husband, Sonny Bono, were a popular singing duo. The duo's first big hit was "I Got You Babe," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1965. Cher was 19 at the time.
Cher worked to establish herself as a solo artist in the 1970s, with her first solo No. 1 hit coming as title track from 1971's "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves."
After a couple movie apperances that proved to be commercial flops, Sonny and Cher instead focused on conquering TV, first in "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" (1971-74) and later in "The Sonny and Cher Show" (1976-77) following their 1975 divorce. In between, Cher had her own variety show, which ran for 21 episodes over two seasons.
After a much more successful attempt at acting, including a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for 1983's "Silkwood" and a Best Actress win for 1987's "Moonstruck," Cher returned to singing in 1987 with the self-titled album "Cher." The album featured the comeback single "I Found Someone" and went platinum with 7 million records sold. She followed that up with 1989's "Heart of Stone," which featured the hit "If I Could Turn Back Time" and sold 11 million copies worldwide.
